Presenting the CADinfo.net list of mid-range or medium-priced CAD software. By “mid-range” we mean $500-$1500. This criteria is expected to change as pricing models move from license purchase and maintenance subscription models to subscription only models and on-demand services. Our list will evolve accordingly.
“Mid-range” software includes many of the most popular and long-lived CAD software products, although some popular products that have also been around forever also fit into the low-cost and high-cost zones.
Products in this range are a safe bet, each having large user base that is useful for peer-to-peer support either in online forums or real-life user groups. These products are tried and true, continuing to evolve and capable of producing design drawings reliably once you have the system configured to your requirements.
Many young people have used these software products at school and have at least a basic familiarity with how they work.
In this range CAD software tends to be generic with notable exceptions in the case of some architecturally-oriented products. Generic software products can be configured equally well for producing work in virtually any discipline either through home-grown customisation or commercial add-on applications.
The list is interactive. Your opinion is as important to the list as anyone else’s, whatever your connection might be. Add your candidates to the list. Vote thumbs up or down, add a comment, relist and share with your colleagues. We’d love to get your input on the list elements and on the list itself.
