| Access |
A means of thoroughfare for any purpose. A door provides easy access to a space that is frequently used. A hatch provides access to a space that can be large (ship's hold) or small (roof space). An inspection opening provides maintenance access, e.g. to a switchboard or meterbox. Access can also refer to implicitly or explictly designed facility to enable people to reach certain parts of a building or structure, such as the inclusion in the works of pathways, handrails, ladders, walkways and platforms for operational or maintenance purposes. |
