Osaka Prefectural College of Technology Adopts STHENO/PRO, CAD Schroer’s Integrated Drafting System for Pro/ENGINEER
Moers, Germany, May 23, 2006 - CAD Schroer Group (CSG), the global engineering solutions provider, today announced a new partnership with the Osaka Prefectural College of Technology in Osaka, Japan, which has adopted the STHENO/PRO drafting plug-in for Pro/ENGINEER as standard for 2D drafting in its engineering design courses. STHENO/PRO is the only professional-grade intelligent drafting package fully integrated with Pro/ENGINEER, Pro/INTRALINK® and Windchill PDMLink™, developed by one of PTC's premier software partners. CSG was nominated “European Software Partner of the Year” by PTC® at the end of 2005. The product caught the attention of Professor Yoshitani at the Osaka Prefectural College of Technology, who now teaches it alongside modelling with Pro/ENGINEER. The college and its Industrial Systems Engineering department were established specifically to train engineers for all industry sectors in product development. Japanese students attend for five years after graduating from junior high school. “STHENO/PRO is the ideal drafting solution in support of Pro/ENGINEER,” says Professor Yoshitani. “We teach it in conjunction with Pro/E in eight of our modules, which cover a whole range of CAD and drafting skills, from Engineering Systems Design and Industrial Systems Engineering in years 1 and 2, all the way up to Mechanical Engineering in the 4th and final years. It integrates seamlessly with Pro/E and has sophisticated functionality, but is very easy to use, and, therefore, to teach.” The software runs on multiple platforms, including Windows® 2000 and XP Professional, Sun® SPARC Solaris, and Hewlett Packard® HP-UX 11.0. Software support to the University is provided by CADStream Japan, one of CSG’s premier VARs in the region. CSG’s Educational License Program CAD Schroer is a keen supporter of engineering students in educational and research establishments, offering free software licenses and support through its Educational Program, which is available globally. Licenses are available for a whole raft of products in CAD Schroer’s MEDUSA4 design automation suite, which include everything from state-of-the-art drafting and 3D to plant design, factory layout and electrical design; as well as the STHENO/PRO product line for Pro/ENGINEER users, which provides customisable detailing and drafting power along with a number of add-on productivity tools and utilities. Free software licenses are issued on a 12-month basis to qualifying institutions, with full support and free training for software administrators. The educational establishment license is a fully featured floating multi-platform license. Students can also apply for a personal student license. This is a node-locked individual licence for Windows® 2000 and XP Professional, and is only issued in conjunction with an educational establishment license. Unlike the free MEDUSA4 Personal licenses, which CSG introduced in September last year, student licenses are fully supported via a dedicated contact at the university or research institution. www.cad-schroer.com/index.php?ziel=Company|Educational About CAD Schroer CAD Schroer Group (CSG) is a global software development company and engineering solutions provider, headquartered in Moers, near Duesseldorf, Germany.
