Integrated Drafting Power for Pro/ENGINEERCAD Schroer Announces Release of STHENO/PRO Version 2.1 and Launches Competitive Upgrade Offer for Users of other 2D SystemsMoers, Germany, April, 2006 - CAD Schroer GmbH (CSG), the global engineering solutions provider, today announced the release of version 2.1 of its renowned STHENO/PRO™ dedicated drafting plug-in for Pro/ENGINEER. The release coincides with a high profile upgrade campaign, targeted at Pro/E users whose current, non-integrated 2D systems may now be unsupported and expensive to upgrade and maintain. High Value at Low Cost: Pro/E Users Pay Less by Upgrading to Integrated 2D In a confident move this fortnight, CSG has announced some keenly priced upgrade packages for Pro/ENGINEER users who are re-evaluating their existing AutoCAD® installations and data management strategy, or are concerned about threats to Pro/ENGINEER as their system of choice. Nominated PTC®‘s “European Software Partner of the Year” in the Autumn of 2005, CSG has a strong, collaborative partnership with the American PLM solutions provider, out of which grew the STHENO/PRO product line, which offers state-of-the-art drafting power fully integrated with Pro/DETAIL™ and Pro/INTRALINK®, with optional Windchill PDMLink™ integration. CSG recently introduced some unique and ground-breaking new functionality to STHENO/PRO, including the SMART Edit tool for dynamically editing designs without a sketch, which offers “parametrics on demand” without the need to dimension a drawing. The upgrade offer for owners of AutoCAD LT, AutoCAD and AutoCAD Mechanical to one of the STHENO/PRO packages applies to all previous versions up to version 2005, with large savings for companies making the switch (rather than upgrading to AutoCAD 2006) to STHENO/PRO, which is fully DXF/DWG compatible. In the offer, CAD Schroer also underlines its customer focus and “by engineers for engineers” approach to software development, consultancy, and training, and the excellent value of its software support and maintenance program. Over the last year, the company has complemented its global partner network by opening new independent subsidiaries in France, the United Kingdom, Italy and the United States to be even closer to its user base. New and Improved: STHENO/PRO Rev. 2.1 CSG’s development teams in Germany and the United Kingdom have been busy further improving STHENO/PRO’s renowned drafting capabilities. Some of the highlights of the latest release include: SMART EDIT™ Introduced in the last release, the renowned SMART Edit “parametrics on demand” functionality has been even further improved. SMART graphics use colour highlights and shadowing to make dynamic design modifications even quicker. It is now even easier to snap geometry onto existing components, to select dimension values, and to edit circles and non-orthogonal geometries. SMART Edit’s intuitive approach to symmetry makes it a breeze to edit or create variants of your existing designs. STHENO/PARTS™ The STHENO/PARTS standard CAD parts library has received a face lift, with a new, even more appealing user interface. JDBC Database Connectivity STHENO/PRO PLUS and ADVANCED now have the capability to use most Java Thin Data Base driver clients, which means that administrators can provide access for the STHENO/PRO Bacis2 (proprietary programming language) environment direct to any database which has a client. Dashboard Management Tool A new Dashboard Management Tool allows administrators to create and store context-sensitive dashboards and properties dialogs for user-specified groups; selection criteria can be very diverse, allowing the user interface to react intelligently to any “special” groups defined. This means that it is now very simple to integrate customisations of the STHENO/PRO PLUS or ADVANCED sheet structure into the user interface in the STHENO/PRO dashboard style, gaining even more productivity. Text and Leader Lines Implemented as an integral part of the standard text mechanism in response to customer requests, STHENO/PRO, which has long had the ability to create dimension style notes, with a bounding box and a leader line, now allows users to add a bounding box and leader line(s) to any text at random, especially unstructured imported notes.
