COFES 2006 Opens in ScottsdalePremiere Event brings illumination, opportunity to CAD industryScottsdale, AZ April 20, 2006 -- Cyon Research Corporation, hosts of the Congress on the Future of Engineering Software (COFES), today welcomed more than 260 attendees from across the globe at the kickoff of its 7th annual industry conference. COFES represents the meeting of the best minds of the engineering software industry, providing an intensive conference atmosphere for both private and public discussions. The yearly event gives executives, end users, CAD and PLM vendors, analysts, as well as the press a chance to address the business issues in engineering technologies. This year's eagerly anticipated keynote speaker is Alan Cooper, author of several books, including "The Inmates are Running the Asylum." The book criticizes of the short shrift software engineers have traditionally given human-computer interfaces, and details his commentary on how computer-based products can be designed to match human intuition. "Alan's insight into how people use computers is illuminating," says Joel Orr, Cyon Research's Chief Visionary. "Everyone at COFES: product designers, software vendors, architects, and others, will learn from what he has to say." This year, COFES enjoyed unprecedented support by sponsors and Technology Suite participants, who use the event as an opportunity to conduct private meetings, build business and establish contacts across the entire industry. Major sponsors include Microsoft, UGS, Spatial, and Autodesk. Technology Suite vendors include Adobe, Apple, Dassault Systemes, and PTC. New Technology Suite vendors this year are: CubicEye, Infinite Z, Kubotek, Mathsoft, and Software Innovation. "The COFES event provides a unique forum for the CAD/CAM industry to channel our competitive instincts into better engineering solutions for customers," said Robert Bean, Kubotek USA's Chief Operating Officer. "Kubotek USA can speak from experience that many strategic relationships have been hatched at COFES." CADwire.net's daily commentaries and updates as well as COFES weblogs will report on the proceedings over the next week. "COFES 2006 has record attendance, and is the most impressive event yet," said Brad Holtz, CEO Cyon Research. "We hope that by drawing together this superb group of individuals, the industry realizes more clarity, more focus and yet more success."
