plm Supporting South Australian SMEs With the Advanced Manufacturing Design Centre

Adelaide, Australia 18 April 2006 The Advanced Manufacturing Design Centre has been established in Adelaide to help Small to Medium sized organisations gain access to high-end design technology.

PLM Australasia has provided expertise to help develop business opportunities for the SMEs in South Australia, together with other organisations, assisting in the development of the Centre.

It was officially opened on 8 July, 2005, by Senator J. Ferris. The Centre, a $1.5 million investment, is an initiative funded by the Australian Government and the City of Playford in support of South Australia's manufacturing industry, via the Playford/Salisbury Sustainable Region program.

To enter the supply chains of large national and international manufacturing companies, SMEs are expected to use the same tools as those larger organisations.

The establishment of the Centre enables companies that require top of the range design tools to remain competitive, an affordable way of accessing a variety of state-of-the-art design software.

The Centre currently has more than 20 member organisations, each able to access the software, special services and other benefits; to subsequently fast track product design and development for local, national and international automotive, defence, mining and engineering related markets.

The Advanced Manufacturing Design Centre should be the first point of call for any SME based in Adelaide looking to expand its services into national and international markets. Support the Centre which is supporting manufacturers and SME organisations alike.
