Plm Renews Technology Alliance with Ford Performance RacingProduct Lifecycle Management (Australasia) (plm) has renewed its marketing alliance with FPR for season 2006.Sydney, Australia - 7 April 2006 -- As a long term Ford Performance Racing (FPR) commercial partner and official CAD software supplier, plm is a founding commercial partner of FPR and provides the state of the art software products that have been critical in the development of the team's FPR Falcon V8 Supercars. Plm's products, in particular the I-deas NX and NX design software, were used extensively for the complete re-design of both FPR Falcon V8 Supercar chassis for the 2005/6 seasons. Plm products are also used extensively by Ford Australia, assisting the company's engineers to design Australia's favourite road car range. Plm's link with FPR shows the outstanding capabilities of its products to meet the extreme demands of modern day race car engineering, as well as the requirements of road car design. As has been the case over the past three seasons, the familiar I-deas NX logo will be seen on the side skirts of both FPR Falcons during the 13 round 2006 V8 Supercar Championship Series. Plm Director, Mr Dennis Colusso, says the synergies between plm's important role with Ford Australia and its extension into V8 Supercar racing are obvious. "To our customers, we can showcase the capabilities of our products both on commuter roads and on the race track by being involved with FPR," said Mr Colusso. "This team completely designs its cars from the ground up and our product is integral to this process. We are excited about the future for FPR and look forward to playing an active part with our updated Ideas-NX software systems this season." FPR Design Manager Simon Holt stated that plm's continued partnership with FPR ensures that design engineers and machinists have immediate support and training to keep them at the forefront of Computer Aided Design and manufacturing technologies. "This enables us to optimise the FPR Ford Falcon V8 Supercar design as a result of a thorough understanding of I-deas NX and NX's capabilities such as full suspension kinematics, clash detection, finite element analysis and rapid 3D machining directly from CAD data." FPR Engine Engineer Andrew Richardson says that by using I-deas NX he is able to simulate kinematics and dynamic behavior using properties which represent an engine's operating environment. The information this accurate tool provides saves prototyping time and resources.
