Broomfield, Colorado USA, March 22, 2006 - MWH Soft, a leading global provider of environmental and water resources applications software, today announced that the respected Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics Department (CEEM) at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona has opted to use InfoSWMM to teach its students the fundamentals of urban drainage systems analysis and design. InfoSWMM will replace the Department's existing modeling software, in supporting its teaching and world-class research activities on water resources management and hydrologic modeling studies. The selection is the latest reflection of MWH Soft's market-leading momentum in advanced geocentric hydraulic infrastructure modeling solutions in North America.

The University of Arizona is ranked as a Research University I by the Carnegie Commission (its highest ranking) and is among the top 20 universities in the United States in external research funding. As one of its oldest continuing departments on campus, CEEM employs fourteen faculty members, three adjunct professors and seven staff members to serve nearly 300 graduate and undergraduate students.

The department strives to ensure that its courses are innovative and relevant to industry needs and global trends. Serious focus is placed on hands-on engineering experience and meeting real-life design challenges in the corporate world. CEEM's elite faculty has received an impressive array of national and international awards and honors for its members' research contributions, along with university awards for quality teaching and student counseling. An emphasis of their world-class research program is on surface water hydrology, hydraulics, and water resources systems analysis. CEEM graduates are employed by leading companies around the world.

"InfoSWMM actually encourages students to plunge into sewer systems analysis, operations and design, rather than scaring them off with complex screens and a tedious, unreliable trial-and-error modeling process," said Dr. Kevin E. Lansey, Hydrology and Hydraulics Professor and a renowned authority in water resources engineering. "Its short learning curve, ease of use, linkage with the USEPA standard and FEMA certified SWMM5 model, extensive functionality, and friendly user interface make it a tremendously powerful and effective learning environment. Our future engineers are now able to hone the sewer systems engineering basics they'll need to embark on successful careers in a short period of time. The scenario manager is particularly useful for our research. Till now with other software, students needed days for tasks that can be completed in minutes with the manager."

"As a major force in the water resources industry, we at MWH Soft are pleased to see so many distinguished institutions incorporating our software into their curricula," said Trent Schade, PE, the company's Client Service Manager and Urban Drainage Modeling Specialist. "InfoSWMM is quickly becoming an industry standard, and its user base continues to grow rapidly. Introducing students to the power of the InfoSWMM community while they are pursuing their engineering education gives them a significant advantage in a competitive job market. We're proud that our software will play a key role in such an innovative and award-winning institution. We look forward to supporting the university's goals for years to come."

As a complete urban drainage modeling tool, InfoSWMM is the ultimate teaching and research solution for civil and environmental engineering students. Its comprehensive and industry-leading functionality, reliability, quality, and ease of use allow them to quickly construct and analyze representative models of actual sanitary, storm and combined sewer collection systems, then use those models to improve system reliability and performance. InfoSWMM's state-of-the-art computational capabilities let students develop and evaluate a range of sound, cost-effective design, rehabilitation and operational strategies in a very short time. The innovation behind InfoSWMM and its momentum in the marketplace make it an essential addition to any university engineering curricula.

"The University of Arizona has distinguished itself as a leader in water resources engineering education," said Paul F. Boulos, Ph.D, President and COO of MWH Soft. "It closely monitors the changing technological needs of the industry and prepares its students to satisfy those needs, benefiting everyone involved. MWH Soft applauds the university's commitment to providing a rich education, and its exemplary dedication to the civil and environmental engineering community. We are honored and proud that CEEM will be using InfoSWMM to help shape the next generation of engineering leaders and beyond."
