CAD Software Giving Industry the Power to Dream

Mouldcam produces moulds for large and one-off items such as boats, trains, church steeples, trucks, planes and basically anything else that can be designed in a 3D format. 

Mr. Marina says the company has been using NX as the CAD modeling tool and the UG CAM component as the CNC machine controlling software fro the past 3 months -- a partnership that he says works like a charm. 

"Now that we use the NX/UG-CAM combination, our CNC machines can do things we never thought possible. Previously we were only ably to cut in an X or a Y axis. Now, thanks to this new software, our machines are able to cut in both directions at the same time. This saves us a considerable amount of time-several hours per job in fact, which translates to savings of money and an increase to our bottom line." 

Prior to installing the plm products, Mouldcam was using another CAD/CAM product, which Mr. Marina says was "nowhere near as good as NX." Furthermore he adds that the NX CAD/CAM system is also marginally cheaper as well and consequently, he and his company are "very happy with both the product and the support they get from plm ." 

"The product has allowed us to do more complex work, thereby definitely giving us a competitive edge", says Mr. Marina.
