Toulon, France, March 6, 2006 OPTIS, the worlds leading 3D lighting and optical design technology provider, announced today its new OptisWorks Studio product. This unique light and optical design software is part of the unique OptisWorks suite of tools.

OptisWorks Studio is based on the most powerful mechanical CAD engine developed by SolidWorks Corporation. It allows users to design both optics and mechanics using just one interface. No CAD software is required to work with OptisWorks Studio.

This unique product is much more than interoperable with other CAD software. It is 100% based on a CAD engine. Users do not need to use import or export tools to design a complete product.

OptisWorks Studio is the most comprehensive product to analyze and simulate light, optical design, and laser design serving a wide variety of industries ranging from automotive to optics. With OptisWorks Studio, users can deal with the whole process of product design and optimization to improve product quality, reduce development costs and time, and increase competitiveness.

The functionality available in OptisWorks Studio allows designers to work in a virtual opto-mechanical laboratory, called studio to design and analyze optical, opto-mechanical, laser, and lighting systems.

Designers can also read and translate all Pro/E and AutoCAD files thanks to the unique parametric import capabilities of the SolidWorks engine.

OPTIS and SolidWorks decided to work together to best address the industrial demands of light and mechanical interactions, and the integration of a CAD kernel is the perfect way to simulate this reality.

Were excited to offer the OptisWorks Studio line to the market using a new product powered by SolidWorks proven technology. Partnering with a company like SolidWorks will insure our customers products are well designed and highly competitive, stated Jacques Delacour, president and CEO, OPTIS.

OPTIS is an excellent solution for those users wishing to increase their productivity in lighting system design, stated Emile Bloemen, strategic sales manager for Solid Works, Europe. The integration of Solid Works and OptisWorks Studio will provide great benefits to users in a variety of industries ranging from electrical to consumer goods and industrial machinery.

About OPTIS

OPTIS is the first company to provide light simulation solutions fully based on a physical model inside CAD/CAM software. Specialized in optics and software development, OPTIS has developed innovative solutions since it was founded in 1989. SPEOS, SOLSTIS, and LIGHT cater to the needs of industry, research, and architecture and are used in more than 35 countries throughout the world. SPEOS addresses industrial markets and integrates photometry, colorimetry, lighting, and photorealism capabilities fully based on physics. Its live-measured library of material, sources, and sensors provides highly realistic virtual prototypes, giving light information. Its unique eye-vision model provides answers about the perception of a 3D environment often needed for ergonomics and safety applications.

SOLSTIS is dedicated to research laboratories in the fields of lasers, telecommunications, and optics. LIGHT computes the illumination level inside any 3D architecture scene and brings it exact light levels, aspects and colours. OPTIS is the first company in the world to fully provide solutions for industrial needs for light information. Its unique colorimetry, ergonomics, and lighting solutions set a new precedent in digital mock-up. In 2002, OPTIS was awarded Gold Product status by SolidWorks Corporation for its integrated light simulation, OPTISWORKS.
