BARCELONA, Spain and PLANO, Texas, Feb. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- UGS Corp., a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced that Industria de Turbo Propulsores (ITP), a leading manufacturer of aeronautical engines and gas turbines, selected NX(TM), UGS' comprehensive digital product development software, to reduce design times and improve collaboration across projects.

ITP's engineering division selected UGS' NX software following an intense evaluation process. The company cited NX's ability to produce complex electronic models of its products in 3D as a key selection factor. As a result of the selection, ITP has implemented 100 NX seats in its development centers in Madrid and Zamudio, Viscaya.

"Introducing NX enables ITP to increase its design and engineering capacity and integrate its manufacturing plants and clients more effectively," said Jose Antonio Malumbres, director of ITP Engineering. "Furthermore, NX provides valuable communication capabilities that will enable ITP to more efficiently collaborate with suppliers who use the same solution, improving profitability for both organizations."

"We are very glad to have been chosen by ITP after such an intense evaluation process. Improving communication and taking advantage of existing best practices will help ITP improve its collaborative efforts," said Paul Vogel, senior vice president and managing director for UGS for Europe, Middle East & Africa.

Widely used in the aeronautical sector and the aviation engine industry in particular, NX is a next-generation digital product development system that helps companies transform the product lifecycle. With the industry's broadest suite of integrated applications, NX touches the full range of development processes in product design, engineering and manufacturing. NX allows manufacturers to conceive, design, engineer and validate discretely manufactured products -- and capture their product definitions -- in a fully digital environment.

Building on its industry-leading ability to capture knowledge and simulate performance throughout the product development process, NX 4 includes hundreds of customer-driven enhancements that improve manufacturers' ability to differentiate their products and to transform their process of innovation.
