Capvidia to Showcase Major CATIA Translation Enhancements for FormatWorks 2006 at SolidWorks WorldAdded Performance, Reliability and New Workflows for CATIA Data Translation for SolidWorks UsersLeuven, Belgium, Wednesday, January 18, 2006 - Capvidia will showcase major enhancements of their FormatWorks 2006 add-in at SolidWorks World 2006, which is being held in Las Vegas January 22-25, 2006. FormatWorks is the first and only Certified Gold Product for SolidWorks users who need to translate CATIA data correctly and reliably to SolidWorks. Translation Preview FormatWorks 2006 has a new model preview capability. This lets you
instantly open a CATIA file and view the data before it is translated to
SolidWorks. The preview has all functions of a 3D viewer allowing you to
zoom, rotate and pan the model. It also features a project tree showing
the model structure. Users can select separate parts for translation
directly from the project tree. The FormatWorks 2006 project tree
supports:
“Many of our customers are given CATIA data without any idea as to what they need to translate. Our new model preview lets them see instantly what is in the file.” said Lyle Fischer, Technical Marketing Director of Capvidia. “Once they see what is in the file they can select what they need and translate it into SolidWorks. This is a huge time saver and makes the translation of CATIA data very easy to do.” Selective Translation Large CATIA models, assembles including complex structures are easily handled with FormatWorks 2006. Using the model preview capability, the user selects parts they want translated into SolidWorks. You can select any combination of assemblies, sub-assemblies or separate parts and translate them into SolidWorks and leave the rest behind. Selective translation provides time savings, minimizes computer resources (memory) and gives manageable data to SolidWorks. Feature Translation FormatWorks2006 now provides support for automatic feature recognition. SolidWorks features such as holes, cuts, chamfers, fillets, extrusions, ribs are identified in the translation process. The imported models are easily editable in SolidWorks. Improved Performance The improved repair and healing process is now 30% faster compared with the previous versions. The BREP based translation provides the most reliable data exchange. Combined with the rich set of manual repair functions, FormatWorks2006 provides the most optimal data translation solution for SolidWorks users. Batch translation The batch translation module is offered as option for users requiring automatic translation of large data sets. The batch mode features control mechanism orchestrating the data translation process. All operations are automatically logged. In case of a crash the batch mode automatically restarts all processes including the SolidWorks. The problematic file causing the crash is flagged in the log file and the process continues further without any user interaction. The batch mode provides an ideal solution for users translating large sets of native CATIA data. Supported Formats Data import formats: IGES, STEP, Parasolid, VDA-FS, STL, VRML, CATIA V4, CATIA V5, Pro/E, CADDS, and UGX. Data export formats: IGES 6.0, STEP, CATIA V4, CATIA V5, ACIS, IGES with CAD system flavor (CATIA V4, CATIA V5, SolidEdge, SolidWorks, FEMAP), VRML, STL. About Capvidia Capvidia develops software for CAD data repair and offers data translation services. We repair models created in any CAD system and guarantee that the results will be compatible with CATIA V4, CATIA V5 and SolidWorks. Our service includes also feature-to-feature translation from a user defined CAD system to SolidWorks. Capvidia software is available on an annual subscription basis including maintenance and support
