Toronto, Canada, September 26, 2005 Alias has announced its participation in a new initiative set forth by the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid). Alias is now one of the founding Icsid Corporate Innovator (ICI) partners. This is a group of design-related companies dedicated to corporate and academic collaboration, promotion of industrial design issues globally and cooperation in developing new directions in the world of design.

Bringing together nearly 150 professional societies in over 50 countries, Icsid began its ICI initiative early this year as a program to facilitate corporate involvement on coordinated projects throughout the international design community. The organization combines resources and efforts of practicing designers, governmental agencies and educational institutions to implement research, further professional development and protect the intellectual property rights of designers.

Alias StudioTools family of products and services has helped drive industrial design into the new millennium by providing software that takes designers from intuitive 2D sketching directly into high-quality 3D design. All major automotive manufacturers as well as hundreds of leading industrial design studios worldwide now use Alias technology.

Industrial design has seen new heights in the last few years with innovative creations that have made such things as cell phones, MP3 players and cars much more attractive, reliable and in-demand, said Drew Mattison, Industry Business Development Manager for Design at Alias. With the speed that the industry moves, designers need tools that can help them meet shorter schedules without compromising their creativity. Alias StudioTools provide the flexibility, speed and very high quality design communication that industrial designers need today.

Icsid will work with Alias to support the global industrial design efforts of the organization, which holds numerous events worldwide. We are excited that Alias has become one of three ICI partners in the inaugural year of the initiative, said Dilki de Silva, Icsid Secretary General. The support and participation of key industry players is fundamental to the continued growth of our industry. We anticipate funneling the knowledge and experience of industry leaders such as Alias to nurture positive change around the world.
