Company and PhotoModeler application turn 15 today

Vancouver, BC � August 23, 2005 � Eos Systems, maker of the award-winning PhotoModeler software, today announced the 15th anniversary of the company and its signature product.

Eos Systems, Inc, was founded on August 23, 1990 with the intention of bring the technology of photogrammetry (measurement from photographs) to a wide audience. Previously, the science was used primarily for working with aerial imagery. Founder and CEO Alan Walford applied the techniques in a computer tool that could model objects from ordinary snapshots at ground level. Today, the Windows-based PhotoModeler version 5.2 has been broadly adopted around the world by both individual users and globally recognized corporations.

"When I founded Eos Systems in 1990 photogrammetry was virtually unknown outside specialists in the aerial mapping area. Using images to do any sort of measurement or modeling of non-terrain features was unheard of outside of academia,� said Walford from the company�s headquarters in Vancouver, British Columbia. �Photogrammetry was a complex technology, but we saw potential for very wide use.�

The historic evolution of the PhotoModeler application coincided with the spread of three-dimensional CAD systems through the offices of designers and engineers. The capability of modeling all dimensions of real-world objects from photos, then incorporating the 3D models into other applications, has proved indispensable for scientific and industrial endeavors -- by such clients as NASA, Boeing, GE Research, and DuPont -- and also versatile enough to be applied in creative works, such as Sony Imageworks� film-quality animation. The user-friendly software has won an enthusiastic audience of individual users in a diverse range of disciplines: architects, engineers, scientists, archaeologists, surveyors, and police detectives.

As for the secret of Eos Systems� success, Walford attributes the company�s commitment to the constant improvement of the product and to listening to its customers. �Ongoing development is one of our daily core activities,� said Walford. �Our focus has been on providing a technical product to both technical and non-technical audiences with excellent support.�

One of the first PhotoModeler users, Steve Fenton, now CEO of Kineticorp, Inc. in Denver, Colorado, has used the software to reconstruct thousands of automobile accidents over the last ten years, most notably in Princess Diana�s fatal crash in Paris in 1997. Fenton recalled the beginning of a very long relationship with the firm: �When I first called Alan, I said I like your product, but it�d be nice if it can do a, b, and c? Later, he called, saying, we just updated it. And lo and behold, he made it do exactly what I wanted, and more. Their improvement of PhotoModeler matched step-by-step with my needs. �
