Coordinate Metrology Systems Conference (CMSC) 2005 Finds Record Attendance and Hospitality in Austin, Texas
Redmond, WA August 8, 2005 The CMSC Society announced today their annual Coordinate Metrology Systems Conference (CMSC) 2005 hosted a record attendance, and continued its 10% growth trend for the past three conferences. The weeklong event attracted manufacturers, engineers, scientists, quality control specialists, metrologists, educators, and students from around the world. The conference was held in late July at the Hyatt Regency Austin, Austin, Texas, where hospitality and exceptional conference facilities met the needs of the 21st yearly gathering of the organization. CMSC members are professional and novice users, service providers, and OEM manufacturers of close-tolerance industrial coordinate measurement systems, software, and peripherals. Fifteen industry white papers were presented during the conference, which covered a wide spectrum of 3D industrial measurement topics and applications. The lineup of presenters included an international roster of metrology experts and scientists from prominent laboratories and leading manufacturers. CMSC 2005 also featured an Exhibition Hall, which was at full capacity this year. Three advanced workshops were conducted and featured Introduction to Reverse Engineering, Laser Tracker Accuracy, and an Introduction to Six Sigma. According to CMSC attendee Mr. Steve Kaufmann of Laser Projection Technologies, Inc., "This was the best conference ever. I don't just mean CMSC conference. I mean any conference I have ever attended!" Another conference attendee Mr. Tom Charron of INUS/RapidFORM stated, "In the past I have not attended the CMSC social events. But I did this year and found the social events provided an excellent venue for doing business with potential customers." Mr. Talion Edwards from a major aerospace company in the Midwest reported, "This is my first CMSC conference and I didn't know what to expect. But after being here (in Austin), I have realized this is an excellent conference." About the CMSC Society CMSC is a society of users, service providers, and OEM manufacturers of close-tolerance industrial coordinate measurement systems, software, and peripherals. The metrology systems utilized by industry and represented at the CMSC conference include traditional CMMs and PCMMs such as theodolites, laser projection systems, laser trackers, laser radars, photogrammetry/videogrammetry systems, scanners, and articulating arms. The CMSC society gathers each year to gain knowledge of the advancements and applications of any measurement system or software solution that produces and uses 3D coordinate data. About the Coordinate Metrology Systems Conference The Coordinate Metrology Systems Conference is an annual event sponsored by the CMSC Society. Established in 1984, the five-day conference is held each year at a different location, and attracts visitors from around the globe. CMSC is renowned for its comprehensive program of top-shelf white papers and applications presentations given by industry experts from science/research laboratories and manufacturing industries such as aerospace, space hardware, antenna, automotive, shipbuilding, power generation, and general engineering. No other trade show rivals the high level of authoritative information provided by CMSC members and master users of metrology instruments, software, and peripheral equipment for quality control, quality production, and precision assembly.
