Océ TCS400 Integrated Large Format Color Print, Copy and Scan System Now Supported by InterPlot Driver Pack from BentleyFaster processing and simple user interface eases workflow, optimizes productivity and brings complex documents to life with color for improved accuracy
July 26, 2005, Chicago – Océ (Nasdaq: OCENY), a global leader in digital document management and delivery solutions, announced that the Océ TCS400 integrated large format color print, copy and scan system is now supported by the InterPlot Driver Pack from Bentley Systems, Incorporated. The InterPlot Driver Pack is part of Bentley’s Digital InterPlot™, a high-performance plotting solution capable of electronic plot creation, storage, and network and Internet distribution, especially over wide geographies to large numbers of users. Since Océ North America, Inc. and Bentley formed a strategic business agreement in June 2002, Océ has sold Digital InterPlot in combination with the industry-leading Océ TDS Series of large format multifunction printing and scanning systems (Océ TDS400, Océ TDS600 and Océ TDS800). Bentley introduced the new Digital InterPlot–Océ TCS400 combination this May 2005 in Houston, TX at the SPAR 2005 conference – a premier event focused on business and technology within the construction industry. Bentley SELECT subscribers who already have the InterPlot Driver Pack can download the most recent version, which includes the Océ TCS400 driver, from the Bentley SELECT website (www.bentley.com) free of charge. New users can order the InterPlot Driver Pack from either Bentley or Océ. Digital InterPlot is ideally suited for organizations that create a large number of complex plot sets from MicroStation, Bentley’s flagship product for the design, construction and operation of the world’s infrastructure, and are looking to streamline workflow, improve internal productivity and realize the benefits of color in large format technical document output. CAD, reprographics, IT and GIS managers in industries that range from government and process manufacturing to architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) are among the organizations that require a better means to quickly print or reprint large sets of complicated plots in a consistent, accurate and easily interpretable way for their clients and subcontractors. “Today’s AEC businesses are facing new challenges that are impacting traditional workflow patterns – driving their need to produce more plots more quickly. They need to find new ways to compete in a market where there’s a trend toward ‘design-build’ earlier in the project development phase to meet shrinking lead times and conserve spending,” explained Sal Sheikh, Vice President, Marketing, Océ Wide Format Printing Systems division of Océ North America, Inc. As project complexity grows, customers must automate the consistent printing of large and complex plot sets at different issue stages – incorporating changes within the underlying CAD formations to ensure presentation consistency among viewers. They’re also required to print large raster images and even generate multiple views of the same design file for different disciplines. “This puts a lot of strain on workflow, resources and legacy equipment in a setting where businesses don’t have unlimited capital to invest in a separate propriety print system. That’s where the benefits of Bentley Digital InterPlot for the Océ TCS400 come in,” Sheikh added. No Waiting Between Prints Bentley’s Digital InterPlot and the Océ TCS400 work hand-in-hand – providing organizations with a highly productive, extremely easy large format color printing system. Bentley MicroStation users gain the benefits that the Océ TCS400 system delivers – including processing very large color files three times faster and producing twice the number of monochrome prints per hour over other thermal inkjet printers. Customers now have a simple user interface that allows them to construct, save and submit large, complex plot sets (even digital files over 100MB) right from their desktop print queues without having to leave their seats. Internal productivity is improved because users can focus on their core job responsibilities instead of waiting for prints. That’s because the Océ TCS400 uses the latest generation of the Océ Power Logic® controller to accelerate file processing. The Océ Power Logic Controller spools print jobs off the network, processes those jobs, and stores them until the printer is available. This “control box” approach replaces the need to tie up the network or send files to separate servers for storage. Multiple files of varying sizes can be received, processed and printed concurrently so that one file can be printing while the controller receives and processes the next. The Impact of Color The use of color is also an added plus for AEC and GIS firms that need to quickly and accurately convey high precision maps, line drawings and photographic images at a glance. Color decreases the chance for human error and misinterpretation, speeding decision-making and ultimately time to project completion. By combining the best of both worlds – Bentley’s Digital InterPlot high-performance plotting solution and the Océ TCS400 multifunction large format color system – users no longer have to rely on hand-drawn revisions with color markers. What they get are printed plots that are automatically rendered in sharp, crisp color in desired volumes. Digital InterPlot even lets them publish these plots in Adobe® PDF format. The InterPlot Client creates an authentic intelligent Adobe PDF from both MicroStation and AutoCAD® files, providing extra versatility. Not only is color being used more widely to communicate complex information to reduce errors, it is commonly used in the early phases of design. Adding color to large, complex proposals helps CAD managers, AEC firms and other users to more readily communicate and sell their concepts to decision-makers. Color also increases the impact of marketing presentations to attract new clients and close business faster. The benefits of the Océ TCS400 are enhanced by the Bentley Digital InterPlot plotting solution. Digital InterPlot essentially makes it easier for end-users to operate under compressed timeframes where meticulous workflow is a must. Automated features for selecting plot areas and applying settings, powerful reattribution tools, server-side processing and a programmable automation interface are among many features that lift the administrative burden and let managers focus on what matters most – serving their clients.
