Leading Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Industry Analyst Study Shows UGS Performs Well Across All Five PLM Categories
PLANO, Texas, July 6 /PRNewswire/ -- UGS Corp., a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced leading PLM industry analyst firm AMR Research, in a June 2005 report by Michael Burkett entitled "The CIO's Guide to the PERFECT Product Launch: Translating Innovation to Business Benefit," shows that UGS received high marks across all five PLM categories. As part of the report, AMR Research ranked the top 18 PLM vendors across five PLM categories: Collaborative Product Design, Product Data Management, Product Portfolio Management, Direct Material Sourcing and Customer Needs Management. UGS received strong ratings in all five categories, and were among the highest rated in the Collaborative Product Design, Product Data Management and Customer Needs Management categories. "We applaud AMR Research for looking at the ways product innovation translates to businesses winning in the market, and we are pleased that AMR Research's report points to UGS as having the greatest strength and breadth in the marketplace," said Tony Affuso, chairman, CEO and president of UGS. "In addition, UGS is the clear innovation leader both in this report in the cPDM space, where both we and a growing chorus of analysts believe the battle for PLM leadership will be won. In fact, UGS' trailing 12-month revenues grew at nine percent more than its nearest competitor." The AMR Research report states: "Unsuccessful product launches affect corporate market share as well as profitability. A successful launch satisfies a market demand with great product innovation and sufficient supply, adding to top-line revenue while commanding premium price and margin."
