SOUTH JERSEY HEALTHCARE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER DEPLOYS DRAWBASE
Integration Capabilities, Enhanced Reporting, Object Intelligence and Intuitive Interface Cited as Key Benefits
11 May 2005 - South Jersey Healthcare (SJH) Regional Medical Center has implemented Drawbase software from Graphisoft to manage facility data for its newly constructed campus. The computer-aided facility management software solution was selected by the medical center based on its data transfer ability, ease-of-use, intelligent object capability and reporting functions.
"We originally planned the campus using AutoCAD and needed a facility management program that would allow for the seamless import of DWG drawings and facility-related information. Drawbase's integration capabilities assured us that no pertinent information was lost," said John Bickings, vice president of support services for South Jersey Healthcare. "We were also impressed with Drawbase's intelligent object technology, which holds critical information on all the objects we defined, from door locks to smoke detectors and fire dampers. With all new systems, no one staff member holds this knowledge, and Drawbase is proving invaluable as a one-stop resource on our building systems."
The newly constructed SJH Regional Medical Center is a 262-bed, 441,000 square foot facility on 62.5 acres that provides care to Cumberland County Residents. This $163 million construction project entailed the merging of three existing hospital systems into one to create an integrated medical campus. It consists of a 4-story inpatient medical center, a 2-story diagnostic and treatment center, an ambulatory care center, a cancer center and a medical infusion center. With such a large and multifaceted hospital system, SJH Regional Medical Center was looking for a software solution that would incorporate the information from each building's maintenance system into one database. Using Drawbase, facility staff can easily and quickly gather information, such as location, maintenance history and parts listing, on any system located in any department within any building.
In addition, South Jersey Hospital Regional Medical Center can employ Drawbase to develop a statement of conditions on the hospital's space, equipment and life safety systems - information required to secure JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) accreditation. The hospital can use the information from this JCAHO Compliance Report to meet federal requirements in order to obtain Medicare funding.
"Hospital facilities present unique challenges and requirements because of the life-saving services they provide," stated Dave Connors, vice president of Drawbase Sales for Graphisoft. "Drawbase's features and capabilities meet these demands with ease, and we are pleased to be working with such a progressive institution as
SJH."
