Spicer Introduces Support for AutoCAD 2006, SolidWorks 2005, JT 8.0, PDF
1. 6, and Rapid Loading for Scan to File Applications
New Imagenation(R) and Image a-X(TM) Release 7.6 announced
KITCHENER, ON, April 26, 2005 - With the release of Imagenation 7.6 and Image a-X 7.6, Spicer Corporation, the world's independent leader in visualization solutions, offers impressive enhancements to raster document viewing and wider file format support in its Universal Viewing software suite.
The new Imagenation release allows users to load and display extremely large raster documents (up to 4 GB in size) using a relatively small amount of memory (generally under 40 MB). Documents can be displayed progressively, while they are being loaded. If files are not locked, they can be opened and displayed while they are still being written. These features are especially useful with operations such as scan-to-file, GIS map navigation, photo-realistic and graphical art review, or for those with limited RAM, such as non-engineering users.
"Working with oversized color originals is extremely quick and easy, regardless of computing power," comments Tony Prilesnik, Imagenation product manager. "Our advancements in imaging technology, and raster display (including PDF) in particular, decrease processing time significantly for scan-to-file operations; operators are freed from long wait times for document display and approval."
Release 7.6 introduces support for several new formats:
- SolidWorks 2005 2D drawings
- SolidWorks 2005 3D parts and assemblies
- JT models
- AutoCAD 2005 and 2006
- PDF 1.6 (PDFs generated in Acrobat version 7.0)
Updates to the optional PDF Add-on for Imagenation 7.6 include support for the PDF 1.6 format and render support for 3D Industry Forum's Universal 3D Format (U3D) data within PDF. Users can now save Spicer markups made in PDF format documents as PDF data. These markups can be viewed in Imagenation or in Adobe Acrobat and Reader. The latest updates also include OpenType font embedding and improved library initialization performance.
Additional product enhancements include:
- For Imagenation Scan editions, an update to version 7.0 SP3 of the ISIS scanning toolkit adds support for Fujitsu fi-4010, Fujitsu fi-4120C2 (ADF & imprinter model), Fujitsu fi-4220C2 (ADF, FB, no imprinter model), Fujitsu fi-5110c, Fujitsu fi-5650c, Kodak i30 and Kodak i40 scanners.
- Options for smoothing text, line art, and images are now available for all vector formats.
- 53 new Hatch pattern Fill Styles for drawing objects have been added.
- The background color for Imagenation pages and the Reference and Detail windows is now set with the Windows Control Panel.
