Proficiency Collaboration Gateway to Accelerate Migration to New CAD System

MARLBOROUGH, Mass., Dec. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Proficiency, the leader in product data interoperability, announced today that the Night Vision Division of ITT Industries has selected the Proficiency Collaboration Gateway(TM) to accelerate its migration from a legacy CAD system to Pro/ENGINEER(R). ITT Night Vision is the leading trusted supplier of night vision devices to the U.S. military, law enforcement operations, recreational, scientific and surveillance applications. The Collaboration Gateway enables companies like ITT Night Vision to exchange feature-based CAD models between Dassault Systemes' CATIA(R) v4 and CATIA(R) v5, PTC's Pro/ENGINEER(R) and Pro/ENGINEER(R) Wildfire(TM), and UGS' Unigraphics(R) NX and I-deas(R) NX Series.

The Proficiency Collaboration Gateway is a Web-based, feature-level CAD interoperability software application that facilitates the sharing of product design information, including features, history, constraints, assembly structure, dimensions, and metadata, throughout the extended automotive product development process. It will enable ITT Industries Night Vision to migrate to its preferred CAD system while reusing models designed in its previous CAD system.

During the evaluation process, ITT Night Vision estimated that Proficien cy's Collaboration Gateway would save the company more than six man- years of effort to migrate approximately 15,000 models to Pro/ENGINEER.
