Valtech GmbH Active in the ProSTEP iViP Association
Darmstadt, December 2004 - The
IT consulting specialist Valtech has joined the ProSTEP iViP Association
and will be contributing its expertise to the "Engineering Change
Management" (ECM) project. The aim of this project highly
regarded in the industry is to accelerate global development and
manufacturing processes.
Valtech is advising the automotive industry
with regard to the de-sign of interfaces for improved software-based
communication be-tween OEMs, suppliers and partners. The ProSTEP iViP
Association provides almost 200 international companies from the
automotive, aerospace and IT industries, as well as research
organizations, with a platform where the industrial application of the
international product data standard STEP (Standard for the Exchange of
Product Model Data, ISO 10303) and harmonization of product lifecycle
management (PLM) processes can be discussed and, if possible, a
consensus achieved.
Within the framework of the ECM project, Valtech
is providing support for current software implementations in change
management between the OEM BMW and the supplier Magna Steyr. In the
medium term, all the OEMs, suppliers and software partners involved in
the project expect a significant reduction in development time for new
vehicles.
Ingo Kriescher, managing director of Valtech
Deutschland, had the following to add: "Since we have been working
together with the automotive industry for years, especially with regard
to the product development process, it was high time that we joined this
forum. We are looking forward finding answers to the challenges we are
facing."
