Westminster, CA. November 10, 2004. Noran Engineering, Inc. a leader in developing Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) software today announced that NeiNastran V8.3 has now been ported to the Intel Itanium 2 and the AMD Opteron 64-bit CPUs running the RedHat Linux operating system.

NE/Nastran is part of Noran Engineering's complete suite of analysis software: linear and nonlinear statics, dynamics, heat transfer, fluid flow, fatigue, optimization and more. This easy-to-use, versatile solution handles complex structural, dynamics and heat transfer analysis problems on everything from laptops, desktop Pcs to heavy-duty engineering workstations.

The Intel Itanium 2 and AMD Opteron processors allow companies to expand the use of CAE software without the higher cost that other computer platforms offer. These processors allow customers a migration path from 32-bit computing to 64-bit. Customers taking advantage of this price performance solution can expect at least 2x increase in speed while performing linear and nonlinear solutions.

Over the next few months Noran Engineering will deliver NeiNastran on numerous platforms and operating systems. The following shows the supported platforms and those under development.

32-Bit Operating Systems

  • Windows 2000/NT - IA-32 (Pentium 4)
  • Windows XP - IA-32
  • Linux - IA-32
  • SGI - IRIX - MIPS

64-Bit Operating Systems

  • Linux - iA64 (Itanium)
  • Linux - AMD64
  • SGI - IRIX - MIPS
  • AIX - IBM - PowerPC

Under Development

  • Windows XP - IA64 (Itanium)
  • MAC OS X - MAC - PowerPC G5
