14 Sept 2004 -- The IntelliCAD Technology Consortium (ITC) announced
on the 10th of September IntelliCAD 5, a major update of its IntelliCAD Technology.
IntelliCAD 5 supports DWG 2004 and 2005 while maintaining compatibility with previous versions of DWG back to 2.5. Import and export of DWF files, and SVG export have been added, along with numerous stability and performance enhancements.
New tabs located at the bottom of the drawing area allow users to switch how they want to view their drawing. The new Model tab can be used to create a drawing. When printing users can use one or more Layout tabs to design how they want the drawing to look when it is printed.
The width of entities in a drawing can be controlled with the new lineweight feature. Users can assign lineweights to entities and layers, and can also specify if they are to be displayed or printed.
When multiple entities overlap, a user can change the order in which they are drawn and plotted. Draw order can be used to move entities to the front, back, or on top or below of another entity.
IntelliCAD 5 also includes improved solid modeling, audit and recovery of damaged files, template files, and improved printing support.
"IntelliCAD 5 is a major step forward in the IntelliCAD technology. The new features and improvements in IntelliCAD 5 make it a viable production tool for all CAD users but more importantly it also serves as a development platform for companies interested in the development of their own CAD applications" said Arnold van der Weide, President of the IntelliCAD Technology Consortium.
The IntelliCAD Technology Consortium will demonstrate and discuss the new IntelliCAD 5 technology at its IntelliCAD World Meeting, which will be held on Sept. 16th and 17th in Denver, United States.
The ITC licenses the IntelliCAD technology to its Commercial Members, who in turn provide end user sales and support. Commercial Members are free to offer options such as VBA, Rendering, ACIS Solid Modeling, Raster Image Display, etc., and add their own applications.
