HUNTSVILLE, Ala., June 23, 2004 -- Intergraph <NASDAQ: INGR> Mapping and Geospatial Solutions today announced Z/I Imaging Hellas S.A., Intergraph's Mapping and Geospatial Solutions division's exclusive distributor for Greece and Cyprus, was awarded a contract to supply Land Information Management solutions (LIM) for Filoxenia 2004. Appointed by the Athens 2004 Olympics Organizing Committee, Filoxenia is managing the Private Homes Rental Program during this year's Olympic Games. Filoxenia is a joint venture of two major consortia and represents real estate divisions of Greece's largest private banks, leading travel agents and Olympic Games' experts.
Intergraph solutions are part of an IT infrastructure that includes property booking systems, logistics systems, Web-enabled applications and geographic information systems (GIS). The LIM solutions are the basis of a Web-based system that integrates spatial and non-spatial data sources, facilitates data entry, updates and processing and publishes resulting geographic information on the Web. The system automates many of the organization's daily tasks and procedures, thus optimizing the data processing workflow, and is now operational.
Filoxenia's Logistics and Sales Departments and cooperating tourist agents worldwide are using the Web-based system for property selection and appraisal. Olympic guests will also use the published Web site (www.filoxenia2004.com/gis) to visualize the location of every available rental property. This gives the visitor the distance of property to the Olympic venues, the residence's proximity to the public transportation network and other places of interest. The site represents the first Greek Internet site to combine an English interface with Latin labeling and covers Greece to prefecture level while the Region of Attica is covered to street-level detail.
GeoSynthesis S.A., a local consulting firm and Intergraph strategic partner, implemented the system as a subcontractor of DeltaSingular, a leading group of companies in the Greek Information Technology sector. Periklis Doublidis, General Manager of GeoSynthesis S.A., noted the suitability of Intergraph solutions for Filoxenia's requirements. "Filoxenia needed flexible yet robust technology to manage and shortlist the 15,000 applications for rental properties to be made available during the Olympic Games. The unique strengths of Intergraph solutions to process, integrate and publish spatial data from disparate sources ensure that we met project deadlines and provided the sophisticated tools that are helping Filoxenia accomplish their daily tasks."
Intergraph's GeoMedia(R) technology was chosen because of its open foundation and high-performance capabilities that handle the organization's substantial requirements for:
- - Geocoding 15,000 property addresses
- - Calculating distances and paths from the rental properties to the 17 Olympic venue locations, which generate 255,000 best path distances using a network of 172,000 streets
- - Real-time access and linking to geospatial data warehouses and other disparate spatial data sets
- - Automating spatial data maintenance and updates
