Oce TCS400 Wide Format Scanner Receives 'Straight A's' in All Categories - Quality, Speed and Ease-Of-Use

CHICAGO, April 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Oce (NASDAQ:OCENY), a global leader in digital document management and delivery solutions, today announced that Cadalyst Labs awarded a 5-star, highly recommended rating to the scanner of the Oce TCS400, the company's new large format technical document color multifunction system. The Oce TCS400 is the first and only fully integrated large format color print, copy and scan system designed for organizations using CAD, GIS and other software applications. The scanner received top-of- the-line "A" grades in all categories -- quality, speed and ease-of-use -- in the April 2004 Cadalyst test report.

The review awarded an A+ to the scanner's ease-of-use -- the only scanner to receive such a high mark in this category. The report cited the scanner's LCD panel on the right of the machine as excellent, relatively sizable and easy-to-read. It also highlighted that the scanner's features make the tool fast and easy to operate, potentially saving significantly on time and maximizing the productivity of the operator.

The review ranked the Oce TCS400 scanner as "highly recommended," defined as "superior to others in its class." The in-depth evaluation praised the Oce scanner's outstanding color fidelity and quality; its fast and easy scanning across a network; and its ability to scan to ten destinations such as to workstations on the network, to the Web via an FTP site and to off-site locations. The review highlighted specific scanning features such as manual and automatic size detection of the original, automatic deskewing, a programmable default setting, autocrop, pre-programming of the next scan while the current scan is in progress, a scale-while-scanning option (10-1000%), and automatic background compensation that you can turn on or off.

Key Cadalyst Evaluation Criteria

Cadalyst evaluated the large format scanners based on three factors: quality, speed and ease-of-use in a scanning test using a topographical map. Each scanner was tested with optimal settings to confirm that lines were generally complete; broken lines did not merge into continuous lines; colors rendered accurately without obscuring detail; and (with monochrome scanners) the representation of a given color in gray did not obscure important detail in the original.
