MasterFormat Technical Tune-up
CHICAGO, IL, April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- AEC Daily announced the launch of their new MasterFormat(TM) Technical Tune-up at the 48th Annual CSI show. The new service will tune-up manufacturer specifications in 3 key areas - MasterFormat(TM) 2004 compliance, "Green" compliance, and Autodesk i-drop(R) compliance. "Most manufacturer specifications have become outdated and irrelevant by recent changes in the industry" said Jeff Rice, president of AEC Daily. "The architecture industry needs specifications which will work with today's standards." To do this, AEC Daily has assembled a unique team of individuals who are pioneers in the green building & CSI initiatives. They have collectively amassed more than 50 years of AEC experience in the standards of specifications. Two of the key leaders in the team are Dennis J. Hall (FCSI, AIA, CCS, CCCA, Chairman of the CSI MasterFormat(TM) Expansion Task Team, and Managing Principal, Hall Architects, Inc.) and Paul R Bertram JR. (FCSI, CDT, LEED AP, Participating Member, ASTM E06.71, developer of LEAD DOG G.Q., president/CEO, PRB Design). The changes in specifications standards affect 3 key areas. First, the CSI MasterFormat(TM) codes are changing this year, going from a 16 Division format to a 49 Division format. Secondly, there is a rapidly growing demand for "green" or environmentally sustainable building products for use in projects that conform to ASTM E-2129, LEED(TM) and other high performance criteria that stress environmental responsibility. Finally, specifications will be made compliant with AutoDesk's i-drop(R) technology which allows users of AutoDesk's CAD design and visualization applications to drag-n-drop design information directly into their working CAD session. These new updated specifications will be made available through AEC Daily's extensive distribution network which provides measurable results and lead generation for the building product manufacturers. AEC Daily's technical tune-up will make manufacturer's specifications compliant with all these latest standards which will simplify the job of the architect and specifier.
