HUNTSVILLE, Ala., March 29, 2004 - At the 17th annual GIS for Transportation Symposium (GIS-T) being held this week in Rapid City, S.D., Intergraph Mapping and Geospatial Solutions (booths 32-37) is presenting a breadth of transportation solutions successfully implemented among 39 Department of Transportation (DOT) state agencies nationwide, as well as provincial, federal and municipal agencies worldwide. The symposium provides a forum for professionals interested in the design and use of geographic information systems (GIS) for transportation.

Intergraph transportation solutions are designed to increase productivity and improve daily decision making and management for engineers, planners and administrators in the transportation industry. The company's array of solutions includes geospatial data management and cartography, earth imaging, geospatial infrastructure management, land information management and mobile resource management.

Innovative transportation implementations recognized During the symposium, Intergraph Mapping and Geospatial Solutions will honor five state/provisional transportation agencies as recipients of the 2004 GeoSpatial Innovations for Transportation Award. The award is presented to transportation organizations that have implemented innovative solutions illustrating the benefits of geospatial technology in support of the organization and the public they serve. This year's award recipients include:

- - Alberta Transportation - "Transportation Infrastructure Management System"

- - Kansas DOT - "RCRS/CDRS & KGATE Enterprise Web Sites and Enterprise Image Management Solution"

- - Hawaii DOT -"Enterprise Highways GIS Web Portal"

- - Nebraska Department of Roads -"NECTAR Enterprise Web Portal"

- - Tennessee DOT -"TRIMS Solution and the Enterprise Image Management Solution"

According to David Kingsbury, Executive Director, Global Transportation Solution Center, Intergraph Mapping and Geospatial Solutions, "The annual GIS for Transportation Symposium provides an ideal opportunity for our organization to present Intergraph's latest advances in the application of geospatial technology within the transportation industry. We are pleased to honor and showcase our customers who have excelled at supporting the public they serve with innovative implementations of geospatial technology."

Customer successes on display During the show, attendees will see desktop, Web and mobile transportation management implementations involving numerous Intergraph customers, including Florida DOT, Hawaii DOT, Iowa DOT, Kansas DOT, Nevada DOT, Ohio DOT and Tennessee DOT. These implementations are based on the following geospatial solutions:

- - Enterprise Imaging Distribution and Management - This unique solution allows DOT users direct and immediate access to all imagery within the DOT. Based on Intergraph's TerraShare(R) technology, this solution stores, manages and accesses multiple types of imagery and terrain data and helps transportation agencies eliminate wasted time searching for existing imagery files needed for planning, engineering design, construction and maintenance.

- - Enterprisewide Transportation Web Portals ? Transportation agencies can provide direct access to all business-critical data directly and immediately with Intergraph's Web technology. Using an n-tier architecture, DOTs can provide open and secure access easily and increase productivity many times over.

- - Transportation Safety Management - Intergraph's experience with safety management systems and its linear reference systems (LRS), location-based services (LBS) and geospatial analysis technologies provide a productive solution for safety engineering. Crash location and analysis is conducted easily to provide users with a total solution.

- - Transportation Asset Management and Visualization - Intergraph's geospatial resource management and LRS enable easy access to network and asset data throughout the organization, regardless of format or database location. This allows professionals to maintain their digital road database using source data to view, analyze and present the most up-to-date information. Intergraph's direct integration with Hansen Information Technologies provides a complete asset management solution for transportation professionals.

- - Transportation Environmental and Drainage Planning - Using vector and grid technologies, DOT planning professionals are able to analyze and report on environmental impacts of projects, as well as conduct detailed drainage and surface runoff studies.

In addition, Intergraph experts will serve as moderators for multiple sessions throughout GIS-T, as well as conduct six presentations, including the following:

- - "Field Digital Data Collection - Realizing the Benefits for DOTs," by Mike Baker, Senior LBS Consultant

- - "GIS and Middleware: Two Technologies, One Solution - Everyone Gets What They Need," by Pat Broussard, Program Director

- - "Mapping the Underground City - the NY City Transit Subway Integrated Core GIS," by Bruce Aquila, Transportation Consultant

- - "Enterprise Image & DTM Management and Distributed Systems," by Mike Balentine, Senior Image Consultant

- - "Enterprise Web Portals - A Successful Reality for Many DOTs," by Mike Wing and David Kingsbury, Executive Director, Global Transportation Solution Center

- - "Grid Analysis for Hydrologic Modeling," by Sean T. Davies, Transportation Consultant
