Autodesk Sponsors Prestigious Good Thinking AwardsAutodesk Inventor Professional prize for talented young designers
25 March 2004 - Autodesk has announced that it is supporting one of the liveliest and most eagerly watched design award shows of the year. The leading design software and digital content company is sponsoring a series of awards at Good Thinking: Brunel Design 04, the showcase for graduating students from Brunel Universitys Department of Design and Systems Engineering. This annual event is fast becoming a high-profile launch pad for emerging design stars and an excellent opportunity for talent-spotting. Past entries, including a gadget that tells blind shoppers the price and style of clothes, a retractable stiletto heel, an underwater digital music player and a remote controlled indoor plant watering system, have generated strong industry interest and follow-up. The Autodesk Awards for Innovation will be presented on 14 June 2004 at the universitys Runnymede Campus in Surrey and all winning projects will be on display from 13 - 15 June. The five winners will receive two-year licences of Autodesk Inventor Professional and as this includes both Inventor and AutoCAD, students who have been using AutoCAD within the university will be able to gain immediate benefit from the powerful functionality of Inventor. James Hanson of the Brunel Good Thinking team explained that this years judges will be looking for products, that bring together cutting-edge technology with insightful design sense to create products that simplify and add value to our lives. Kevin Ison, Autodesk business manager, manufacturing solutions division added that this is why Autodesk is supporting awards: We recognise that this event honours some of the UKs most promising designers and were delighted to be involved. Because Autodesk Inventor Professional helps accelerate design cycles, simplify design management and make product development more affordable, it gives users the time and potential to be more productive and creative in their work. We believe that the winners will benefit extensively from the chance to experiment with Inventor, the number one 2D and 3D design software used in education, and we shall look forward seeing the results in the years to come. About Autodesk Autodesk is the world's leading design software and digital content company, offering customers progressive business solutions through powerful technology products and services. Autodesk helps customers in the building, manufacturing, infrastructure, digital media, and wireless data services fields increase the value of their digital design data and improve efficiencies across their entire project lifecycle management processes.
