HUNTSVILLE, Ala., March 3, 2004 - Intergraph Mapping and Geospatial Solutions today announced the successful rollout of its enterprisewide G/Electric solution at Integral Energy. One of the largest energy corporations in NSW Australia, Integral Energy serves approximately two million customers throughout a 24,500 square kilometer area encompassing Western Sydney, Illawarra and the Southern Highlands. With an estimated value of approximately $1.5 billion (U.S.), Integral Energy's network is its key income-generating asset. The network must make a positive contribution to the entire business while meeting the needs of customers for a safe and reliable electricity supply.

Intergraph was selected in July 2001 to undertake the first phase of Integral Energy's multi-phase implementation of a best-practice, integrated asset management system based on G/Electric. Data was then migrated from the company's legacy GDS system into G/Electric's open geospatial warehouse. G/Electric's open architecture facilitates future integration between systems such as asset management and billing and supports a comprehensive Geospatial Resource Management (GRM) environment that facilitates seamless workflows among applications that manage and maintain the energy delivery network. In addition, G/Electric has given Integral Energy the ability to provide the benefits of GIS to Integral Energy's 300 corporate users via G/NetViewer. G/NetViewer accesses the live G/Technology database through a local area network connection, allowing users to view geographic, attribute and detail data online.

According to Integral Energy's CEO, Richard Powis, "This project is the first major step in Integral's Integrated Asset Information Management Strategy, which advocates integrated workflows and data sharing between corporate systems with a minimum of customization. With Intergraph's G/Electric technology, we can share a new level of asset-related information with our corporate users to assist in optimizing our network, gaining efficiencies and improving customer service. The system will also meet challenges specific to Integral Energy, such as the rapid growth of electricity demand per year and the requirement to manage supply interruptions from storms and other unplanned events."

Intergraph's technology links Integral's geofacilities data with other enterprise applications, including asset management, field inspection, distribution network analysis and dial-before-you-dig systems. It also facilitates links to distribution management systems, including outage analysis, and in the future, will provide a link to the customer service system. In particular, the link between G/Electric and Integral Energy's Asset Management System provides valuable knowledge about where defective assets are located.

"We are proud to have worked closely with Integral Energy on this major project - the largest G/Technology implementation in Australia," said Lee Finniear, Vice President, Intergraph Mapping and Geospatial Solutions, Asia Pacific. "With next-generation technology now in place, Integral Energy can pass on the benefits of improved network management to its customers."

Integral Energy Integral Energy is the second-largest state-owned energy corporation in New South Wales, Australia, and covers a service area of 24,500 square kilometers. The company provides electrical service to approximately two million people, including 774,000 connections to homes and businesses in Western Sydney, Illawarra, and the Southern Highlands. Integral Energy's network comprises more than 25,000 substations, 370,000 power poles and 150,000 streetlights bound together by more than 33,000 kilometers of overhead and underground mains.
