PLM Technologies by Product Sight Deployed in 3 Days at Major Automotive Supplier

Millennium Industries sees immediate benefits of FindView® 4.0 Engineering and Manufacturing Search Engine.

Bellevue, WA. February 18, 2004 - Product Sight™, an innovator of practical solutions for the real world product lifecycle, today revealed the results of its latest PLM technology deployment. By successfully deploying Product Sight’s FindView® 4.0 technology across the US enterprise within 3 days, Millennium Industries was immediately able to start finding and sharing the latest up-to-date product data from multiple engineering and manufacturing systems and locations.

Millennium Industries is a major Tier 1 and 2 manufacturer of automotive fuel systems and engine components. The company manufactures over 2 million fuel rails and 1.5 million power steering reservoirs every year. In an initiative to streamline its product data lifecycle processes, it discovered FindView 4.0 by Product Sight.

• allowed finding and viewing of documents across multiple CAD and software systems
• provided us access to exactly the right product data every time

Product Sight commenced deployment of FindView 4.0 in January 2004 and on the third day staff from 4 different Millennium Industry locations participated in the standard one-hour orientation of the technology via web training. This orientation gave the staff immediate access to the product data from their various sites. Simultaneously the customer liaison at a nearby automotive OEM was also able to access the data being supplied by Millennium Industries. Furthermore, within a week of deployment, sales and engineering support staff at the company’s Auburn Hills facility were accessing product data with little previous training. The technology is currently gaining broader grass-roots adoption throughout the company’s US operations and with its global partner in Europe.

FindView Engineering and Manufacturing Search Engine actually looks into the content embedded in a broad range of technical documents, drawings, and CAD/CAM data in a corporate intranet. The technology uses exclusive search technology but, instead of web pages, FindView automatically indexes and tracks the latest up-to-date product data from multiple engineering and manufacturing systems and locations. This data, once located can be accessed, shared and tracked from within FindView, and, when integrated with SyncroSpec, another PLM technology from Product Sight, can be fully managed.
