Hydro Ottawa Signs Additional Contract for Intergraph Solutions Following Successful Deployment of Outage Management System

Unexpected power outage confirms reliability of new outage management system

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Feb. 17, 2004 - Intergraph Mapping and Geospatial Solutions today announced Hydro Ottawa Limited has signed a contract for additional Intergraph Geospatial Resource Management (GRM) solutions. The new contract follows successful deployment of an Outage Management System based on Intergraph's InService(TM). The new operational system successfully met its first challenge within 24 hours of going live. A snowstorm blew through the Ottawa region and knocked out power to roughly 5,500 of the 265,000 customers Hydro Ottawa serves. During the power outage, Hydro Ottawa staff were able to easily log and track calls, diagnose the power outage and dispatch work to the field crews using their newly implemented InService technology.

According to Norm Fraser, Vice President, Operations, "With the new system, Hydro Ottawa can now improve communication and reduce restoration time during power outages as well as predict and correct probable distribution network failures. We are looking forward to taking the next step with Intergraph to complete implementation of our integrated Geospatial Resource Management environment."

Additional GRM technology to link critical enterprise workflows With the new contract, Intergraph will implement additional components of Intergraph's G/Technology, the company's enabling geofacilities management core of a GRM system. Hydro Ottawa's GRM environment will support seamless workflows among daily activities, including the planning, design, construction, operations and maintenance and emergency response functions. The enterprisewide solution will be utilized throughout the organization from engineers, designers and executives to control room operators, field crews and customer service agents. The GRM solution will also be integrated with Hydro Ottawa's various corporate systems, including the Customer Information System and the Enterprise Resource Planning system.

"We are delighted to see Hydro Ottawa already reaping the benefits of their production Outage Management System," said Arthur Spencer, Executive Vice President, Geospatial Solutions, Intergraph Mapping and Geospatial Solutions. "And, we look forward to continuing our technology partnership with them to further integrate the management and maintenance of their service-delivery network."
