Indonesian Electric Company, PT. PLN Batam, Accepts Intergraph's Advanced Geofacilities Management SystemG/Electric enables integrated information environment to support growth initiativesHUNTSVILLE, Ala., Feb 3, 2004 - Intergraph Mapping and Geospatial Solutions today announced the successful completion of Final Acceptance Testing (FAT) for its advanced geofacilities management system, G/Electric, at PT. PLN Batam. The company is a subsidiary of PT. PLN (Persero), Indonesia's national electric company, serving 110,000 customers on the island of Batam, about 20 km from Singapore. PT. PLN Batam's customer base is growing at a rate of approximately 10 to 15 percent annually. The Electric Facility Management System (EFMS), based on G/Electric, involved the creation of a land and facilities base map using IKONOS imagery and field surveys of the facility network and customer premises, as well as development of a comprehensive repository of network assets, which will support PLN's planning, design and customer service workflows. The fast track, turnkey EFMS implementation spanned approximately nine months and was enabled by G/Electric's pre-configured and template-driven environment consisting of planning; engineering design and construction; marketing; operations and maintenance; trouble call; customer service and registration; and enterprise access and viewing templates. G/Electric acts as the enabling core of a comprehensive Geospatial Resource Management (GRM) system where integrated applications streamline key workflows that support the company's service delivery activities, optimizing decision support and operational efficiency. The GRM environment allows PLN to generate and maintain premise identifiers via an interface to its Customer Information System and distribute and maintain the electric data model via intranet applications. Mardawa Padangratha, Deputy Director, Engineering, Construction and IT, PT. PLN Batam, said, "Intergraph's integrated GRM environment will vastly improve decision support across our organization. Ultimately, this means that we will be able to disseminate accurate and up-to-date information more quickly, particularly during power outages so that we can more effectively respond and better serve our client base." According to Bill Love, Managing Director, Intergraph Systems South East Asia, "We are very pleased to support PLN's progressive technology vision with the achievement of Final Acceptance Testing in this relatively short timeframe. This important milestone demonstrates how GRM addresses information system issues to maximize the company's geospatial data as never before by extending the solution to include integration with customer information systems and other legacy databases."
