January 20 2004 - Motive Systems has today announced M-Color 8, the latest version of its presentation plotting software for AutoCAD. The breakthrough in M-Color 8 is a whole new color management system that helps to solve the traditional problems with color deviations between different devices (monitors and printers). M-Color 8 runs with both AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT. The new version will be available for customers in February 2004.
Motive Systems' M-Color
M-Color is a color plotting application that helps AutoCAD users to create impressive high-quality color plots quickly and easily. Translucent fills, gradient fills, and bitmap texturing come with flexible options. Graphic effects can be applied to whole AutoCAD layers and color configurations can be saved for re-use with other drawings - an essential feature for productive CAD work. Drawings can be saved in various formats, including PDF and common bitmap formats. The world's leading companies in various fields use M-Color to create impressive CAD plots. Users of M-Color include SOM (Skidmore Owings & Merrill, LLP), HOK (Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum, Inc.), and ZGF (Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Partnership) and other leading AEC firms.
Highlights in M-Color 8
M-Color 8 helps to solve the traditional problems with color deviations between different monitors and printers. M-Color 8 saves colors in a device-independent color space and uses standard ICC color profiles to compensate for device-specific differences.
With M-Color 8 it is possible to define scheduled print batches. You can also define a password to prevent other users from opening or printing the MCL file or accessing its plot appearance configuration.
Usability improvements include a new user interface for font management, visual page layout setup, copying and pasting styles and CFG layers via Windows clipboard and multi-level undo/redo option in modifying the plot appearance. Texture fill improvements in M-Color 8 include free rotation of the texture bitmap and adjustment of the bitmap color settings. M-Color 8 also adds support for the popular ECW and MrSID raster image formats.
