Avatech Solutions Announces New Board Members

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND - December 11, 2003 - Avatech Solutions, Inc. (OTCBB: AVSO.OB), a leading provider of design automation and PLM solutions for the manufacturing, building design and engineering markets, announced that George Cox, Gary Clark and Ed Aronson have been added to Avatech's Board of Directors. Each new member brings unique expertise and a wealth of knowledge to the board, helping to further support Avatech as an emerging technology force.

George Cox brings his 20 years of experience in the accounting industry to head up the Audit and Compensation Committees. As a Certified Public Accountant, Mr. Cox will work with the officers to drive the highest standards of excellence in its accounting and reporting areas. Mr. Cox's mandate is to ensure that audit committee responsibilities are adhered to as well as stringent Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Mr. Cox is the managing member of Cox, Ferber & Associates, a certified public accounting firm.

Garnett Y. Clark, Jr. Brings 26 years of professional experience in the architectural, engineering and construction (AEC) industry. With AEC as the largest portion of Avatech's business, Mr. Clark's knowledge and leadership will assist the company with this ever important and growing market segment. In addition, Mr. Clark's experience in the banking industry brings a unique combination of real-world finance and business acumen to the Board. Mr. Clark is President of Clark & Associates, a consulting company specializing in land development, residential real estate and residential construction located in Westminster, Maryland and is the founding director of Columbia National Bank.

Edgar Aronson brings his valuable 40 years of commercial and investment banking experience to Avatech, having held a number of executive level positions, both domestic and abroad. He was vice-president in charge of Europe, Middle East and Africa for First National Bank of Chicago and headed up the international department of Republic National Bank of New York. Aronson founded the international department of Salomon Brothers, which, when he left in 1980 as a general partner, had substantially grown with offices in London, Hong Kong and Tokyo. In 1980, Aronson founded his own venture capital firm in New York, which specialized in the energy business. Today, among other activities, he is a Director of MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company, Omaha, a Trustee of the Marine Military Academy and a Founder of the National Museum of the U.S. Marine Corps, from whose Reserve Component he retired as a Major in 1974.
