Schott Systeme GmbH Announce Their New WireEDM Module for Pictures by PC 3.0

Munich, Germany, September 1st 2003 -- WireEDM from Schott Systeme GmbH - Building on its integrated CAD/CAM package Pictures by PC 3.0, Schott Systeme GmbH have recently released their 2 & 4 Axis Wire EDM module. This module integrates the existing design tools of Pictures by PC 3.0 with a full 2 & 4-Axis CAM package to give the CNC operator a wide variety of simple, yet powerful tools for programming EDM parts.

Working with existing data - CAD drawing and model data can be imported into Pictures by PC 3.0 using standard 2D file formats such as DXF, HPGL, EPS and optional 3D files formats of IGES, SAT and VDA. As a set of 2D profiles are all that is required to machine from, DXF data can be worked on directly and 3D model data can be used to extract 2D boundary information. Drawing repair tools also help users quickly search for and overcome common problems such as gaps in geometry and overlap conditions.

Creating new designs - Due to the full drafting functionality included within Pictures by PC 3.0, users can make use of a wide range of standard and specialised CAD drafting tools including simple design tools through to the creation of spline curves for more complex geometry and automatic 2D gear profiles. In addition full layering, dimensioning, hatching and notations enable the creation of complete engineering drawings.

Applying Machining - All machining parameters can be applied with one easy to use dialogue box. This includes all aspects of the cut technologies including offset and power ratings, allowances, leadon/off, constant and variable tapers as well as wire threading and glue stops. Such cutting technology data can also then be stored for subsequent re-use. In fact whether it be a simple 2 axis machining operation or a fully synchronized 4 axis operation, the user can apply any number of operations quickly and easily. NC code is then automatically generated and output in the appropriate format for all wireEDM machines.
