RAL Industry Standard Colour Archives Released for LightWorksAccurate colour visualisation for engineering, architecture and industrial product design
SHEFFIELD, UK (8 May 2003) - LightWork Design, the world's leading supplier of rendering solutions for developers of advanced 3D computer graphics software, today announced the release of a range of industry standard RAL colour libraries, downloadable in LightWorks Archive (LWA) format. The RAL Classic and RAL Design colour standards are used in a wide range of industries worldwide for accurately specifying colours and for communicating design intent. The RAL Classic colour standard LWA release contains a selected range of over 200 colours, divided into 9 colour 'regions', defined for use in various industries. The RAL Design LWA release contains 1,688 colour tones based on the standard CIE L*a*b* colour-space. The LWA format is a secure digital format, for use in LWA-Enabled CAD applications, which allows manufacturers and material suppliers to accurately encode the visual characteristics of their products, and enables designers to accurately select and specify these products during the design, modelling and styling processes. The new RAL archive give users of LWA-Enabled applications a level of accuracy that is not available in any other 3D rendering software, because the LWA format not only encodes the colour of the material but also the reflectivity and sub-surface characteristics of the coating. This gives LightWorks the unique ability to accurately visualise the metallic and fluorescent colours in the RAL standards. The RAL Classic and RAL Design archives are available for immediate download from the LightWorks-User website: www.lightworks-user.com.
