PTC Delivers Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire World's First "No Compromise" System for Product Design and Development

Sydney, Australia - May 7, 2003 - PTC (Nasdaq: PMTC), the product development companyTM, today announced the official Australian & New Zealand launch of Pro/ENGINEER WildfireTM, a breakthrough version of its industry-leading product design and development software. It is the world's first completely integrated system for product development and the core of PTC's Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions.

During development, the company instituted rigorous quality control, tracking more than 30 quality metrics and performing 1,400 hours of quality testing at 17 customer sites. Existing customers were provided with three pre-release preview versions of the product for additional quality assurance monitoring. The result is a software product that has all the critical capabilities necessary to serve as the cornerstone of a complete PLM solution.

Many of the new capabilities of Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire, including personal productivity and process productivity enhancements as well as native Web services, are included in existing packages and are provided to existing customers on maintenance.

PTC is surrounding Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire with a complete set of new training and productivity-enhancing offerings. Because Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire is so much easier to learn than prior releases or competitive offerings, PTC was able to reduce the duration of core training courses by over 50%. Experienced users can take a two-hour Web-based overview training primer at no additional cost as well as two-day instructor-led update training with supplemental Web-based material. New users can enroll in five-day instructor-led core training with supplemental Web-based material.

PTC has also developed a set of new tools to help users more smoothly transition to Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire and become proficient as quickly as possible. Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire adoption tools include an interactive "menu mapper" that shows users menu commands and icons from the previous two releases of Pro/ENGINEER mapped to the new commands in Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire. Other adoption aids include a quick reference card, getting started tutorials and release notes containing a complete description of the enhancements in Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire.
