Graphisoft and Synergis Announce Strategic Alliance to Provide Advanced Visualization and Data Integration to The United States Coast GuardHomeland Security Agency Adopts Graphisoft's ArchiCAD and Synergis Adept to Support its Regional Strategic Plan
NEWTON, Mass., and QUAKERTOWN, Pa., May 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Graphisoft, creator of the Virtual Building(TM) concept and the world's most experienced developer of Building Information Modeling (BIM) solutions, and Synergis Technologies, Inc., developer of Synergis Adept, a leading engineering data management solution, today announced a strategic partnership to provide their joint customers with a complete system for the visualization, integration and management of building data. Among the institutions in their joint customer base, the companies will provide the United States Coast Guard's Office of Civil Engineering, an agency within the Department of Homeland Security, with an interoperable system for its Regional Strategic Planning (RSP) initiative, which is designed to replace traditional master planning and form a bridge between strategic planning and the execution of tactical programs. "We needed a tool that would enable us to bring ArchiCAD's Virtual Building Information into our document control process," said Lt. Cmdr. Jack Dempsey of the Office of Civil Engineering at the United States Coast Guard. "ArchiCAD generates and stores key building information, and Adept helps us manage that data to integrate decision-making for our regional strategic planning efforts. These two companies offer proven technologies that work well together." The U.S. Coast Guard's Civil Engineering Technology Center has used Synergis' Adept since 1998 and is broadening the scope of its capabilities from localized file management to an enterprise wide system that manages documents across multiple geographic regions. The Coast Guard also recently selected ArchiCAD(R) as the core Building Information Modeling technology for its RSP program. Currently, the Coast Guard is using Graphisoft's ArchiCAD for spatial database design, 3D modeling of RSP facilities, and most importantly, to generate 3D databases for facility life cycle management. Adept software is used to manage, track and control access to CAD files, ArchiCAD models and related specification and contract documents. Graphisoft will drive the development of the ArchiCAD and Adept integration with the assistance of Baltimore-based AEC Information Systems, the lead Graphisoft consultant to the USCG and experts in automated building simulation, documentation and visualization. Additionally, Graphisoft will facilitate project coordination and deliver technology support to its resellers and customers. "The goal of our relationship with Graphisoft is to provide architects and building design professionals across all institutions with enhanced capabilities to control and share building data covering all stakeholder interests throughout a facility life cycle," said David Sharp, CEO and president of Synergis Technologies. "ArchiCAD is an advanced and proven technology for creating a Building Information Model and will expand Synergis' commitment to serving the design and engineering market." "With shared customers like the U.S. Coast Guard, it was clear that by aligning with Synergis, we could increase the value ArchiCAD already delivers to our user base," said Al Moulton, president at Graphisoft US. "We look forward to working with Synergis and offering our customers access to Adept through ArchiCAD's Virtual Building Model."
