SGI Announces Availability of Powerful Shading Capability for Dassault Systemes PLM Solutions

SGI OpenGL Shader Available for CATIA, ENOVIA and DELMIA Version 5

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., May 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SGI (NYSE:SGI) today announced the availability of SGI(R) OpenGL Shader(TM) technology for CATIA(R), ENOVIA(TM) and DELMIA(TM) Version 5 Release 11. The availability of OpenGL Shader within Dassault Systemes PLM solutions will allow manufacturing customers to increase the realism of digital mock-ups at no additional hardware costs, accelerate the design process and shorten time to market for their products.

SGI and Dassault Systemes (NASDAQ:DASTY) have collaborated to provide their customers with innovative interactive rendering technologies within Dassault Systemes PLM Solutions. OpenGL Shader functionality is now directly accessible to Version 5 users of CATIA, ENOVIA and DELMIA solutions through real-time rendering menus and interfaces without any coding or specific knowledge.

OpenGL Shader, the most powerful appearance-modeling tool for developers on the IRIX(R) and Linux(R) operating systems, provides an interface to support not only all previous visual effects (including ClearCoat(TM), ClearCoat(TM) 360, bump mapping, multiple textures, environment maps and volume shading), but also an unlimited array of new effects. OpenGL Shader achieves this flexibility through interactive programmable shading using hardware acceleration on standard OpenGL(R) graphics cards.
