Toronto, Canada, May 1, 2003 - Alias|WavefrontT, an SGI (NYSE: SGI) company, announced today that it is offering a new learning tool for digital styling and design, the Learning StudioTools|Beginner's Guide. The teaching aid, available on DVD, includes Alias Studio Personal Learning Edition computer-aided industrial design (CAID) software and step-by-step instruction on how to get started building models and creating realistic renderings in a combined 2D and 3D digital design workflow.

"The Beginner's Guide is a perfect resource if you are new to 3D," says Danielle Lamothe, Learning Tools Product Manager, Alias|Wavefront. "If you've been worried about putting away your pencil and paper, this DVD will give you the self-paced help you need to confidently make the move to digital."

Full Function 3D Software Included in the Beginner's Guide is a complete version of the highly rated Alias Studio software, available for non-commercial use. Studio provides the industrial designer with top quality 2D sketching technology, sophisticated NURBS curve and surface modeling tools, and superior photorealistic rendering tools -- all combined in one integrated workflow.

The powerful CAID software is accompanied by a guided tour of essential components and functions. The Guide covers critical aspects of working in 3D including the palette, marking menus, primitives and transformations. It also explains how to work with curves and surfaces, how to handle rendering and how to add animation.
