Intergraph Process, Power & Offshore Names 2003 Golden Valve Award Computer Graphics Contest Winners
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., April 24, 2003 - On behalf of the Process & Power Client Community, the Intergraph Process, Power & Offshore division of Intergraph Corporation <NASDAQ: INGR> is awarding more than $8,100 (U. S.) in cash prizes and complimentary conference registrations to the creators of winning entries in the Golden Valve Awards computer graphics competition for 2003. Winning entries are displayed at ppo.intergraph.com/library/gv2003. An awards ceremony is scheduled during the International Process & Power 2003 conference September 24-26 in Las Vegas, Nevada, where the winning entries also will be displayed. Showcasing Customer Expertise The annual Golden Valve competition showcases the expertise of customers using Intergraph Process, Power & Offshore software including SmartPlant(r) Review and PDS(tm). Award winners receive international recognition for entries, which are often published in industry magazines and appear in the division's marketing materials and on its Web site. High-quality images of winning entries are available to editors and art directors of industry print and Web publications. The 2003 competition, which featured two new categories, Most Visually Complex Model and Working Views, drew a record number of entries. And the Winners Are... Best of Show winner, Erasmo Honorio Silva, Setal Engenharia E Construcoes, Sao Paulo, Brazil, receives $1,000 and free conference registration for "Lime Kiln with Fog Effect," entered in the Rendering category. Silva created the image for corporate marketing purposes from a PDS model. He was among the Rendering category winners in the 2002 Golden Valve awards. In the Working Views category, first place winner Doug Hoban, Cosyn Technology, Edmonton, Canada, receives $500 and free conference registration for "Bridge Crane Access." Second place winner of $250 is William Fisch, Selas Fluid Processing Corp. Div. Of Linde A.G., Blue Bell, Pa., U. S., for "Reformer Process Piping." Emer Catapia, BC Hydro, Burnaby, Canada, receives $100 for his third place entry, "60 KV Wood Pole Switchyard." Honorable Mentions included "Starboard View of FPSO," by Mike Leonard, AMKC, St. Johns, Canada; and "Design Review Session" by Florian Kish, Washington Group International, Ploiesti, Romania. First place winner in the Most Visually Complex Model category is Tapio Laakso, Jaakko Poyry Oy/Andriz Oy, Vantaa, Finland, for "Fiberline C- Perspective." Laakso receives $500 and free conference registration. Wes Glacken, Australian Magnesium Corporation Ltd., Milton, Australia, wins second place with "Stanwell Magnesium Project Crystallization Area View Looking Southwest," and receives $250. Teresa Fernandez, Kellogg Joint Venture/Woodside Energy Ltd., Perth, Australia, receives $100 for "LNG-North View," the third place entry. Honorable Mentions are "Inside of Orimulsion Pump Room" by Youngmin Lee, Hyundai Engineering Co,. Ltd., Seoul, South Korea; and "Blast Furnace" by Rodrigo Moralez, Setal Engenharia E Construcoes, Sao Paulo, Brazil. Seppo Paulin, Rintekno Oy, Espoo, Finland, wins first place in the Rendering and Ray Traces category for "Forchem Oy Tall Oil Fractionation Plant." Paulin receives $500 and free conference registration. Second place winner of $250 is Tapio Laakso, Jaakko Poyry Oy/Andriz Oy, Vantaa, Finland, for "Fiberline C- Steam." John Palmer, Foster Wheeler USA, Clinton, NJ, U.S., receives $100 for the third place "Combined Cycle Power Plant" entry. Honorable Mentions are awarded to "Manifold" by Nigel Michaels and Elisabeth Olsen, Ramboll, Esbjerg, Denmark; and "The Night of the Shanghai Jinshan PP" by Feng Xingbang, SINOPEC Engineering Inc., Beijing, China; and "Paper Machine No. 4" by Anthony Buhler, Tessag KSH, Montreal, Canada. In the Animation category, first place winner of $500 and free conference registration is Andre L. Fregolente, Promon Engenharia, Sao Paulo, Brazil, for "U.T.E. Norte Fluminense." Rodrigo Moralez, Setal Engenharia E Construcoes, Sao Paulo, Brazil, wins $250 for the second place entry, "Detailing with 3D Models." Third place winner of $100 is Ian Church, Mitsui Babcock Energy Ltd., Crawley, UK, for "600 MW Super Critical Boiler." "Advanced Candu Reactor Fly-through" by David Goland, Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd., Mississauga, Canada, receives an Honorable Mention. Entries Judged on Aesthetic, Technical Aspects A panel of experts judged each entry on a variety of criteria, such as design and technique; technical use of software and system capabilities; innovative and imaginative use of Intergraph Process, Power & Offshore software; and aesthetic screen display or plot of the finished art including composition, layout and use of color.
