ITC Board Focuses Continued Growth on Supplying Quality CAD Application Development Platform

4/17/2003 - During the board meeting on March 21st, 2003, the directors of the IntelliCAD Technology Consortium passed a number of resolutions to ensure the further success and growth of the ITC by improving the organization and to ensure that IntelliCAD becomes the development platform for CAD application developers.

Two years ago the ITC was reorganized as a professional organization that focuses on the development and maintenance of the IntelliCAD� code... Now, with more than 40 members, mostly CAD application developers, and the recent release of IntelliCAD 4, the best, most stable release ever, The IntelliCAD Technology Consortium has become a solid, successful operation.

It was therefore decided that this year the Consortium will focus on two key objectives. The first objective is the further development of the IntelliCAD code by strengthening our development team and processes. The second objective is the recruitment of new commercial members who want to port their CAD applications to IntelliCAD, to capitalize on the previous improvements by the ITC in the core IntelliCAD product, and to enter the established and growing IntelliCAD market. The recruitment of commercial members is supported by the new candidate commercial member program.

A second membership class was approved, the API membership. Instead of commercial members who embed IntelliCAD into their application, the API members develop applications on top of IntelliCAD using our application programming interfaces. For this reason they don�t need access to the IntelliCAD source code.

Finally, Mr. Erik de Keyser, CEO of BricsCAD, was elected Vice President of the IntelliCAD Technology Consortium. "As a founding member of the consortium, I am impressed with the changes the consortium made over the last two years" said Mr. de Keyser. "I am very excited to have been elected Vice President, and am determined to help make IntelliCAD even more attractive for the CAD application developer who is looking for a base CAD component to create their applications on."

The ITC licenses the IntelliCAD technology to Commercial members, who in return get source code, documentation, installation, developer support, etc. to develop the technology into commercial CAD products. These members are authorized to provide end user sales and support. Commercial Members are free to offer options such as VBA, Rendering, ACIS Solid Modeling, Raster Image Display, etc., and to add their own improvements or applications.
