CAD Centric Systems Enhances PDF Support Enhances PDF Export & Engineering Markup in OneView

Cincinnati, April 15, 2003: CAD Centric Systems, The Document Distribution Company, today announced significant enhancements to OneView Professional in support of PDF generated documents. OneView Professional is the company's popular view and markup application for CAD data visualization.

"Reading, marking up, annotating, and exporting PDF files directly from within the OneView application greatly enhances the potential use of PDF based drawings," commented Doug Dennis, President, CAD Centric Systems. "Now high quality, vector based markups are available to users who want to use PDF files for more than just a drawing archive," he continued.

Support of PDFs within OneView, allows users of engineering drawings stored in PDF format to take advantage of the full capabilities of OneView such as extensive markup, export, and visualization. With this capability, users can markup CAD drawings and then export the combined drawing and markup to a single PDF file.

One of the potential uses for this capability allows users to integrate PDF files throughout the Engineering Change Order process. Users can markup a drawing, export it to PDF, distribute the PDF to the review committee where further markups and review can occur to the PDF document. All of this can be done within OneView and all in a markup system that is designed specifically for engineering drawing annotation and markup.

With its support of generic CAD formats such as CGM and HPGL, OneView allows archival data and data from virtually any CAD system to be easily accessed and exported as PDF file. In addition, OneView can be used to view and convert native I-DEAS drafting files in asc, dwg, mdf, and idi formats automatically into fully functional PDF files. "We believe that there are literally hundreds of applications where engineers, designers, purchasing agents, suppliers, and others want to combine engineering data with additional markup information and use this information as a quick method of communication. OneView with PDF read and export capability provides the tools to make these types of annotations quickly and share them with others," Dennis concluded.
