Autodesk Achieves Significant Growth for Buzzsaw solution in the UK and IrelandAutodesk Buzzsaw gains more than twenty new customers in last six months across broad range of sectors including retail and hospitality, construction and property development
15 April, 2003, Underlining the strong appeal of its online project collaboration service, Buzzsaw, Autodesk has announced that it has added more than twenty new customers for the solution in the UK and Ireland alone over the last six months. Take-up of Buzzsaw has been particularly strong in the retail and hospitality, architecture and engineering, construction and property development sectors. "Our belief that the UK and Ireland will drive dynamic growth for Buzzsaw is being vindicated," says Amar Hanspal, senior director, Autodesk Building Collaboration Services. "Buzzsaw's ease-of-use, its flexible forms and process functionality and its high level of integration with other Autodesk software, are all contributing to this ongoing success." Further emphasising the momentum behind Buzzsaw in the region, Autodesk launched customised forms for use with Autodesk Buzzsaw Professional in the UK, including Requests for Information ('RFIs'), submittals and meeting minutes. It also has local UK sales, marketing, support and training staff for Buzzsaw and provides a telephone hotdesk during working hours together with 24x7 email support. Companies throughout the UK and Ireland are benefiting from the Autodesk Buzzsaw solution. York-based Grantside Developments, for example, uses it to manage complex office development projects in the North of England. "Buzzsaw has enabled us to radically reduce our paper work," says Ian Hawkes, Quantity Surveyor, Grantside Developments. "We used to exchange drawings through the post, which often proved time-consuming, expensive and inefficient. In contrast, Buzzsaw provides a central repository where the latest version of any document is always available. This reduces the chance of misunderstandings and allows the project manager to obtain a complete overview of any project at any time." Irish architectural and project management company, Lafferty Design, has been using Autodesk Buzzsaw to manage the first EUR280 million phase of the new Dundrum Town Centre Development in Dublin. Lafferty Design identified the need for an online project collaboration service capable of supporting sophisticated levels of communication across the project. Another requirement was compatibility with the Autodesk AutoCAD design software used widely by team members. Buzzsaw was the obvious choice. "For us, major benefits of Buzzsaw include its user-friendly interface and its ability to make the latest drawing information continuously available to all of the design team, whatever their geographical location," says Padraic Carroll, IT manager, Lafferty Design. "Buzzsaw also offers a flexible directory infrastructure, efficient email delivery and verification and the ability to actively track revisions to documents. Together, these capabilities have enabled us to generate significant savings in costs and time in carrying out this project so far." Dominik F. Hesse, Director of Expedo & Company (London) Ltd., the UK division of an international shipping group, says "Autodesk Buzzsaw has enabled our group to collaborate and share information in a secure, efficient and cost-effective way. "We have offices all over the world and manage projects which involve the use of numerous different types of networks," he adds. "Consequently, we need a solution which supports 24/7 access at an acceptable speed, even when working with low-bandwidth Internet connections and heterogeneous IT systems." "Ease of use, operational redundancy and flexibility in assigning different levels of access rights are also very important to us. Using Buzzsaw enables us to meet all these requirements and, at the same time, improve communication flow and information access throughout the group. Other significant successes Autodesk has achieved with Buzzsaw in the UK include the major food retailer, Safeway, Broadway Malyan, a leading practice of international architects, landscape designers and town planners and Zaha Hadid Ltd. One of the most renowned architects of our time, Hadid's award-winning designs include the Wolfsburg Science Centre in Germany, the Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, and the Bergisel ski jump in Innsbruck, Austria. Autodesk Buzzsaw is an online collaboration service that allows building design and construction professionals to store, manage and share project documents from any Internet connection - thus enhancing team productivity, helping to reduce costs and enabling the lifecycle management of a project.
