CHH Chooses ArchiCAD as its Core Engine for Residential Design and Costing SolutionAuckland, NZ/Budapest March 13, 2003 Carter Holt Harvey, Australasias largest timber products firm, has chosen Graphisofts ArchiCAD technology to embrace design, production, and sales of kitchen and bathroom joinery. Launched late February, Cubit Cabinet is CHHs first software product of its revolutionary building design system to manage the process of designing, costing and building residential houses or their components by one system. Based on Graphisofts award winning design and building information management software ArchiCAD, Cubit Cabinet kitchen system can adjust costs and materials on the fly as the 3D design is changed and can operate in a multi-user mode. "I am very pleased about the recent introduction of our system incorporating Graphisofts and our innovative software solutions," said project manager Nick Clements. "I am convinced that the integration of design, manufacture, and sales is not only forward looking but represents an exciting market opportunity for us." "The launch of the Cubit Cabinet system in New Zealand has created a great deal of interest. We've made a number of sales already and also have a good number of serious inquiries from a range of companies including some very big businesses. What we have been able to show has impressed everybody and I've heard a number of times that it is the best system people have seen" Clements said. ArchiCAD, the modelling engine of Cubit Cabinet, enables manufacturers to model, price and quote kitchen systems, process the design data to their factory machinery and send the data to their accounting system to invoice. Graphisofts distributor and developer partner, Cadimage Solutions Ltd in New Zealand has been involved in tailoring the ArchiCAD technology to the special needs of cabinet manufacturers, while another local firm Computerised Alternatives has worked on the database and optimization. "We are really honored that Carter Holt Harvey has chosen ArchiCAD", said Murray Pearson, managing director of Cadimage. "The approach of using 3D design data from design to construction and manufacturing is often referred to as the next big thing in the building industry. CHH and Graphisoft have proved that it is clearly the present." CHH will sell Cubit Cabinet first in New Zealand to a market of 2,500 joiners, then into Australia where there are 12,500, and ultimately internationally. With 30% market share in New Zealand ArchiCAD has a worldwide distribution channel in 80 countries. Carter Holt Harvey is Australasia's leading forest products company and one of the largest forest products companies in the Southern Hemisphere. CHH recently celebrated its first 100 years in business and is currently the 2nd largest company in NZ by market capitalisation, with sales of NZ$3.75 billion. The company is listed on both the New Zealand and Australian stock exchange. CHH employs 10,800 people in operations located in New Zealand, Australia, and Fiji.
