X-Filer 2.1 for AutoCAD 2000+

CADfx, Inc., a leading developer of AutoCAD Productivity Software, is pleased to announce that its X-Filer 2 (Version 2.1) is now available for general release. X-Filer 2 is a drawing management and archival utility that ends a user's worries about multiple drawings, incorrect drawing paths, lost external references, missing fonts, and images when sending drawings to someone else.

X-Filer 2 is an AutoCAD utility that makes it possible to electronically transmit any number of base drawing files and their external files in one easy step. No more opening each file individually.

X-Filer lets you share multiple base drawing files with consultants or clients while retaining the 'project' directory structure regardless of drive specifications used at different sites. X-Filer allows you to send a series of drawings out of the office insuring that you send ALL the files needed to use the set while also insuring that you send ONLY the files needed.

You can copy files from a network drive to your laptop if you work at home, or on the road. As the files are copied to your laptop, they are repathed automatically to be read from your local drive. Any changes you make to the drawings on your laptop may then be "packed" back to the network just as easily and accurately. To make the process of transferring files even easier, all the necessary files are processed at once and can be archived into one ZIP file once they are repathed.

X-Filer 2 Features

X-Filer 2 is the new version release of the enormously successful X-Filer. CAD fx has maintained the familiar features of X-Filer in its release of X-Filer 2, so existing users will not be disappointed. Just like its predecessor, X-Filer 2 can:

• Process multiple base drawings - there is no need to open each base drawing!
• Copy a file and all referenced files
• Copy Xrefs, fonts, images, Shape files
• Select the type of referenced files you want to copy
• ZIP Sets of files
• Save and retrieve sets
• Copy to a single directory
• Strip pathing to a single directory
• Repath to a new location
• Generate multiple report styles
• Trap and log errors

X-Filer 2 is a completely new package with several powerful new features and enhancements. Following are highlights of the new features and enhancements:

• A newer, refined user interface
• A support directory option has been added to "Save to Dir" portion to simplify transmittals
• Now handles Plot support files (i.e. .ctb, .stb, .pc3 files)
• A "Favorites" link is now included in the main dialog
• The ability to set the level of how deep to go for xrefs
• New and updated reports
• Support for "shortcuts" (i.e. favorites) in any folder
• An option to include a readme file that contains instructions for recipients of your transmittal
