Xylatec Selects EDS Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Software as Corporate StandardUnigraphics NX and Teamcenter Software and Services to Unify Product Development, Manufacturing and Product Data Management
PLANO, Texas, Feb. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- EDS (NYSE:EDS) today announced Xylatec Group, a global leader in the manufacture of woodworking tools, has selected EDS' product lifecycle management (PLM) software as its corporate standard. Xylatec Group joins the growing list of companies choosing EDS PLM software as their corporate standard. Most recently, EDS announced on February 11 WINDMOLLER & HOLSCHER, the world's leading provider for flexible packaging machinery and equipment, chose EDS PLM software as its corporate standard. Xylatec's decision followed a detailed benchmark between major competitive systems and a financial evaluation conducted by the independent Swiss consulting firm XMC (Xperteam Management Consulting). "EDS is proud to welcome Xylatec to the growing list of companies standardizing on our PLM software and services solutions," said Jim Duncan, president of Europe, EDS PLM Solutions. "Companies like Xylatec are discovering the business benefits of selecting a PLM vendor, not only for its industry-leading technology, but also for its ability to service and support that technology on a global basis and from a single source." Unigraphics and Teamcenter Xylatec will deploy EDS' Unigraphics(R) NX computer-aided design, manufacturing and engineering analysis (CAD/CAM/CAE) software and its Teamcenter(TM) PLM software solution to unify product development, manufacturing and product data management. The implementation will take place at three Xylatec sites -- Horb and Memmingen, Germany, and Beinheim, France -- and will replace several legacy software systems. "Xylatec selected EDS as its single source supplier of PLM solutions based on several technical and economic considerations," said Peter Kleinmann, managing director of Xylatec. "We were impressed with the functional superiority of EDS products and services and with its global presence and world-class support. In addition, having a single business contact for all of our PLM requirements enables Xylatec to operate more efficiently, and the automation afforded us by EDS software should create a rapid ROI for our company." Additional considerations Xylatec cited for its decision to standardize on EDS' PLM solutions include:
