Eka Systems Unveils Wireless Networking Platform for Affordable Remote Data Collection and Device ManagementWireless Device Networking Platform Showcased at DEMO - Energy Management Application Provides Significant ROI for Fairfax County, VASCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Feb. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Eka Systems, Inc., today announced the availability of the EkaNet Wireless Device Networking Platform in response to businesses' need for a comprehensive and cost-effective platform for wireless device connectivity and management. The EkaNet technology is designed to open up the network to literally millions of everyday devices from thermostats, electric meters and security devices, to medical devices, consumer electronics, games and toys. Eka Systems offers a simple and cost-effective platform for companies to connect devices to each other and to the Internet easily, and to manage the devices remotely. Based on a wireless mesh networking architecture, Eka's patent-pending EkaNet Connection Cost Algorithm(TM) technology not only allows the device nodes to network-manage themselves but also allows them to take power consumption and other factors into account, opening extremely power-limited applications like water meters, gas meters or environmental monitoring or security devices to achieve network connectivity and battery life of many years in the field. The software client is elegantly designed, fits into an extremely small memory space and is portable to even the smallest 8 bit processors, with no RTOS needed. Embedded developers can use Eka's platform to extend the network to any device. Installations of the devices are quick and easy, with no complicated addressing schemes or heavy network management applications required to operate the network. "Companies in all industries-from building and industrial automation to utilities, energy management and commercial appliances- are looking for innovative ways to improve productivity and save resources," noted Prakash Chakravarthi, CEO and founder of Eka Systems, Inc. "We're leading the effort to deliver unique technology that enables devices to become an integral part of the Internet in a cost-effective and easy way." "Eka Systems' ground-breaking wireless networking technology has provided us with a complete solution, from the real-time collection of energy-related data to management and monitoring our electric meter devices," said Brad Melton, Energy Manager for Fairfax County, VA. "By leveraging Eka's client/server platform, we can gain access to detailed information about our electric meters. This access will give us the ability to optimize our energy consumption and purchasing process." Eka's platform provides a reliable and extremely cost-effective solution to the Fairfax County, Virginia for collecting, storing, and transmitting detailed energy consumption and system monitoring information. Using the Eka platform in four buildings during the trial phase, the county realized up to $50,000 per annum in energy cost savings. The county has placed an order for installation in a total of 10 buildings to date, which included their largest facilities, the Government Center, Herrity and Pennino Buildings, Judicial Center and Reston Human Services Building. The long-term plan is to eventually roll out the installation in all 145 buildings that include local district government centers, fire stations, adult and child detention centers, and libraries. At DEMO, Eka Systems presented an energy management application at the Grifiss Air Force Base, NY, which had the largest wireless mesh network in the world installed in December. The CAD drawings of the product showed clearly how the device-hopping features of Eka's mesh platform extended the transmission range of the RF nodes in the field. Using EnergyInsight(TM), Eka's energy management profiling package displayed the actual energy consumption profile for another customer that delivered an ROI for the system of only two months. The important message demonstrated on stage at DEMO was not the specific energy application but the power of information, unleashed from everyday devices, networked with EkaNet. About Eka Systems, Inc.
