Las Vegas Valley Water District Deploys Documentum Enterprise Content Management Platform
PLEASANTON, Calif., Feb. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Documentum (NASDAQ:DCTM), the leading provider of enterprise content management (ECM) and extended enterprise collaboration (EEC), today announced that the Las Vegas Valley Water District (LVVWD), one of the fastest growing water districts in the Southwest, has standardized on the Documentum ECM platform. The LVVWD had previously deployed Documentum in its Automated Mapping Facilities Management GIS (AM/FM GIS) Division and will now implement the Documentum platform across its other engineering, resources, operations and administration groups. The LVVWD provides water services to more than 800,000 residents of Southern Nevada. Because of the rapid growth and development of the community that the District serves, maintaining an increasing number of records, drawings and maps was a challenge. Using the Documentum platform, employees in the AM/FM GIS Division have been able to minimize errors in the production and management of drawings and maps for use by other departments within the LVVWD. After implementing Documentum in the engineering, operations and research groups, the LVVWD estimates that the system will manage more than one terabyte of content with more than 200,000 documents and drawings with multiple versions and renditions. The AM/FM GIS group is leveraging the Documentum platform to build efficiencies in its extensive document-based work processing. CAD technicians use Documentum through seamlessly integrated AutoCAD and custom scanning applications, so they do not have to learn and operate multiple user interfaces, which enhances the District's operational efficiency. In addition to streamlining the management and distribution of engineering documents and drawings with Documentum, LVVWD also plans to use Documentum to manage operations and management manuals, construction contracts, project files and administrative documents. "Documentum is pleased that the Las Vegas Valley Water District continues to expand its use of our platform," said Dave DeWalt, president and chief executive officer of Documentum. "Documentum continues to provide the best- in-class ECM solution for the utilities industry, with the ease of use, integration and scalability required by leading utilities such as LVVWD." Leading Utility Companies Rely on Documentum In addition to Las Vegas Valley Water District, Documentum has more than 40 customers in the utilities industries, including Alliant Energy, ConEdison Solutions, Florida Power & Light, Northern States Power, Otter Tail Power Company and Thames Water Utilities Limited. These companies use Documentum to comply with evolving regulations and to fulfill their challenging enterprise content management requirements. About Las Vegas Valley Water District The LVVWD provides water to more than 800,000 people in Southern Nevada and employs approximately 850 people in a wide range of fields.
