Chinese Regional Expansion Marks Gerber Scientific, Inc. 20th Anniversary In China - Gerber Technology Opens New Office in Ningbo, China, Bringing Total to 15 and Establishes Liaison Office in Bangalore to Support Operations in India, the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa

SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn., Feb. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Gerber Scientific, Inc.'s (NYSE:GRB) subsidiary, Gerber Technology, a leading automation solutions provider to the apparel and flexible goods industries, today announced the opening of its newest sales and service office in the city of Ningbo, China. This expansion brings to 15 the company's total number of locations in China -- the most of any CAD/CAM supplier in what is now the world's largest apparel producing nation. The company plans to open an additional office in Dongguan in the next few months.

Marc Giles, president and chief executive officer of Gerber Scientific, Inc., said, "The opening of the new office in Ningbo is an exciting way to commemorate the company's 20th anniversary in China, where apparel production today exceeds $85 billion. We expect this figure to grow to over $150 billion by 2010, and Gerber Technology is in place to capitalize on this tremendous growth. For two decades, we've demonstrated our commitment to apparel manufacturers in China by building the largest network of sales and service personnel in cities where our customers are located. Ningbo is a key city for apparel manufacturing where we currently serve many prominent customers. The new office will allow us to grow our business, expand service to customers, and help manufacturers improve their profitability through the adoption of automation."

In addition to Ningbo, Gerber Technology currently serves more than 1,100 customers operating over 4,000 systems and workstations in Greater China through its own offices in Beijing, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Shishi, Wuhan and Hong Kong, and through agents/distributors in Beijing, Dalian, Zhuhai and Macau, and Taipei, TaiChung and KaoShung in Taiwan.

Gerber Technology also opened its first regional office in Bangalore, India to provide sales, consulting and technical support to Gerber's agents and distributors throughout the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East and sub- Saharan Africa regions, which includes India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, Kenya, Mauritius, Madagascar and South Africa.
